I would like my ctb to be discrete and unnoticed other than the people that must know. If you are just some average person, what is the likelihood that your ctb will be reported in any form through an internet search?

This is for SN, in the usa, in a fairly large city

Could you try to prevent any reporting of it in some way?

It depends in different countries, I think. In mine, suicides even if you search them up in the news aren't really talked about, but then in another country (forgot which one), I remember seeing pictures of people who had committed being publicly shared and etc.

I hope I won't be recognized for the public as for my family to keep getting reminded of me which I don't want to be talked about. I'd rather be left out of everything and not be talked about at all just them going on with their day.

If the local hospital doesn't know much about SN or if you have something relevant (known in your town or similar), my guess it will most likely make it to the news, if you live in a city large enough and you're an average citizen, then it will most likely not make it to the news

I highly doubt I'm important enough to cause even the smallest ripple in the media.

I'm just a middle aged eccentric queer cat lady hermit. I go unnoticed while I'm here and it will not be noticed when I'm gone

I have no idea. I don't think suicide is very common where I live, although I also think that a lot more people have suicidal thoughts here than some realize.

I remember seeing a documentary about people here committing suicide, but that documentary was 10 years old and otherwise I don't remember really seeing news about people dying from suicide where I live.

This is very comforting to know. My suicide being heavily circulated is one of my biggest nightmares and deterrents to attempting.

It depends where you live. I live in a large city ( in the US) and most suicides aren't reported here unless they are public suicides like jumping from a building. They don't want to encourage copy cat suicides.

I doubt that the media would be likely to report a suicide by overdose unless the person was famous or they were from a very small town and it was a very slow news day.

No chance. I'm nothing, have only a very few friends (2-3) and nobody cares about me.
But I don't care

I think it's a factor of how much of a spectacle it causes and how tragically the media views your story.

are you below the age of majority and jump from a famous hotel in your city? definitely going to at least make local news, even a headline story.

middle aged man quietly discovered hanging by a concerned neighbour after hearing some thrashing? less likely to make local news.

I second the cat lady: for 99% of my life, I have been hidden away in obscurity.

Even when I "lived life" I was invisible except for people staring at what I presume is my ugliness.

I would assume that in death I would remain just as forgotten about and obscure.

No one on earth would give a fuck about my passing apart from my three closest siblings.

It's very very low unless you're a celebrity. The reason is that it's been demonstrated how suicide-related articles in the media actually spike suicide rates immediately after, no matter who it's about.

this is true too. if they do report on a suicide here they never explicitly say it was a suicide. I recall reading an article about a man who died by train CTB. the only clue that it was a deliberate action was one outlet put the generic "we're here for you" suicide hotline crap toward the end.

this'll depend on the journalism ethics/guidelines in your area though.
