Well, usually it would be black humor.
Sometimes irony or sarcasm.
But then some members etiquette that as "inconsiderate" or "bad".
Are people too fragile and emotional to bare jokes, even if there is no bad intent?

A few times I stopped myself from being ironical.
Once I couldn't help myself and people laughed.

It's hard to portray humour in a written way as it often gets misinterpreted, especially in a setting like this. Personally I love dark humour and jokes, but I know for some people it can be triggering etc.

It just depends on the thread. Oftentimes humor simply isn't appropriate. Also, anything we say can be misconstrued, but in a setting like this, humor especially can be misconstrued. It took a long time for me to figure out when it's safe to be humorous here, and sometimes I still misjudge.

Suicide is a serious topic. But it depends on the thread. It's ok to laugh sometimes but always with respect for the others. Sometimes I laught because my life is so fucked up and I'm tired of crying. And it's doesn't annoy me if anyone laughs at me these days. I don't care about that. But I respect others.

I find that, in general, I use emojis in emails and in posts here if I am trying to be humourous (and I do like to lighten the mood when I can). Emojis are annoyiing but they can support the intent I'm trying to get across, you know?

I resist the urge to be humorous. My sense of humor can be a bit not appropriate, and being able to laugh at myself reduces stress. There's a few folks here that can take a morbid joke, but it's best to assume people can't so harm isn't caused unintentionally.

Thank you all for your replies, I pretty much got the idea.
Proceed very, very cautiously... like in a minefield.
Or just STFU and just fit in with the "find peace" in the "farewell" threads. :ohhhh::'( (and use these)

I envy all of you atheists (I used to be one for 30 years, until I tried entheogens and hallucinogens), since you really believe this is an escape to peace.
But that is a topic for another thread.

dont joke with someone other than your friends unless you want someone to report you . (I have been reported for my "humor" a gazillion times )

Yeah, it's typically best to only joke with those you know even in irl. You can never really be sure how someone will take it.

I personally have to use dark humor even when it comes to the most morbid things. It's just how I cope. I tend to refrain from doing that here because as others have mentioned, it may not be well received due to misinterpretation. That's not to say it can't be used at all, but use your discretion wisely.

Depends on the thread, but often I am just me, I don't believe in false pretences, I speak what I think, I often think I am hilarious, even if I am not but meh!
If the thread is already going into humour then Ill join in, other wise emojis are helpful.

Yes this forum is a serious topic, but there have been day's on here were threads were just pure fun and light and general piss takes, it lightened up moods it helped some of us through a dark time, but some of those people are gone now, those day's are gone its rare to get that now :(

I like most of the humour I've seen here.
I've even lol a few times which I didn't think I could do anymore (probably lol more in the short time I've been a member here than in the past few years).
I can see how things could be misinterpreted & how some people are a bit insensitive about where & when they use humour but overall I see humour as an important part of our journey through these dark times.

I think humor is appreciated on this site. A lot of the more popular people are rather witty.
