I was going to try to make myself throw up but I don't know how. So are they any ways I can do it or what j should worry about while doing it?

juss shove ur fingers (2 fingers middle and pointer) in your mouth and try and touch the inside of ur throat or juss ur uvula and keep them there as long as possible (should take less then a minute probably) ur gonna like gag a couple times but keep it up and u will def throw up. other then like tooth decay from stomach acid there is nothing to worry about.

I find drinking a bunch of water and using 1 finger in a circular motion is more reliable but good method tbf

There's definitely more physical risks to repeat vomiting than just destroying your tooth enamel. Routinely vomiting puts you at risks for esophageal cancer, severe acid reflux, chronic constipation, dental issues, swollen face from swollen salivary glands, kidney issues, and heart issues.

Best of luck bc whatever you're going through is worrisome.

you should worry about a lot of things

electrolyte imbalances which can cause seizures or problems with your heart
gastric acid making your teeth go yellow/black and fall out, or making them incredibly sensitive
sores inside your gums that will be incredibly painful and bleed
acid reflux and heart burn
chronic throat clearing and difficulty swallowing
tearing your esophagus
nose bleeds and red patches in your eyes
russells sign
gastroparesis
swollen salivary glands making the face look puffy
involuntary vomiting

all these risks when digestion starts in the mouth so you cant even rid yourself of all the calories

if you HAVE to purge, exercise purge, it is far safer, harm reduction first, if you have self induced vomiting please drink electrolyte water, i am pro cohice, but as someone with AN-BP, vomit purging is never worth it, its such a bad physical experience as well, you feel your heart rate going crazy, sore throat afterwards, the pressure in your head, its never good, i would strongly encourage you never to start, its addictive too

not true, my friend has had 3 heart attacks and seizures from self inducing vomiting, there are countless stories of people who have died their first time purging (after a binge) because they have ruptured their stomach, there are people and studies who report way worse complications than just tooth decay
i got a painful abscess right under one of my teeth from purging and had to get it removed, this was only on the 3rd time i had ever purged, the first time, i vomited blood because i had tore my throat, both landed me in the hospital, i am lucky that these are the only complications i have had so far

Thanks for chiming in with all of this. Eating disorders are extremely dangerous, even more so than depression and other psychological issues. They have the highest mortality rate of any psychological disorder.

I'd dare say that AN would be less physically damaging than BN even though it's got a serious mortality rate. I didn't include esophageal rupture at the risk of OP thinking it's just an exaggeration, but routine vomiting is seriously such a disastrous, slippery slope to go down. I'd rather get addicted to drugs.

Again for anyone reading this, *dental issues are not the only, or even most serious, complication of purging*. Saying otherwise is seriously harmful and reckless.

Please get help and reconsider purging before it's too late. It's not just a cheat to getting to eat everything you want without gaining weight. It is very physically dangerous.

yes absolutely, anorexia has the highest mortality rate, but purging is THE most harmful eating disorder behaviour to the body, and on this site i get how a "high mortality rate" might get twisted into thinking its a good thing, but its not, it eating disorders kill in a slow and painful way, and you would be surprised at what your body can endure before it gets to that point, early intervention is so important, food should be something to enjoy:heart:

Years of eating anxiety; unable to enjoy/complete a basic survival behavior (eating); slow and progressive physical deterioration; fear of death combined with fear of eating; loss of relationships, work, pleasure; and permanent physical damage and susceptibility to relapse…

Someone with an eating disorder never be happy with their body image or self worth by going down this path. Reaching a goal weight won't make anything in your life better, truly only makes things worse.

If you're reading this a resonate with disordered thoughts, try to talk to someone, avoid triggers, stop counting calories, and appreciate that food is fuel for you to live life. Being skinnier doesn't make you more loveable or happier, just constant fixation on food as a means of control.

Idk how coherent this sounds, but please talk to someone if you're having trouble with food. You deserve basic bodily functions.
