I want to die quick and painlessly. For this there are only a few real options. Gun, which I can't get since I live in a country with pretty strict gun laws. Also, nobody would really sell it to me since I am a weirdo.

Then there is SN & N. Takes super long to put one unconscious - apparently up to 30 minutes with very unpleasant symptoms. So that's a big nope, since I know I will be callng for help instantly. N on the other hand is impossible to get, especially if you are stupid and lack social skills like me.

Then there is jumping. I wouldn't mind the drop, but when one hits the ground I wonder if I could feel that... There's also so many things that can go wrong here as well. Like what if the impact somehow only damages one part of your brain and the healthy part still feels the pain. What if you land in a bad way and you end up living? What about the people that you will traumatize? Then there is publicity. Someone pulls out a camera and you end up on the news, embarrassing your family.

So finally there is hanging. I've read that a lot of times the drop just kills you instantly since it breaks your neck, but what about in other cases? I've read on here that some people choke out and a bunch of other theories that it takes anywhere from a few seconds to go unconscious to a full minute. I don't mind if it lasts a few seconds but if it takes 30 seconds or a full minute then that's a no go.

Does anyone know the straight facts? Also, if anyone here has done full hanging, but was saved or the rope snapped, do you mind sharing the experience, if you are comfortable of course. I want to prepare myself mentally to what I will be feeling.

I am also considering just straight up drowning. A lot of people report severe panic then just absolute peace before the darkness hits. I need to think this one through some more though...

I think if someone is to consider drowning, then they ought to seriously think about attaching non-removable weights to their body. Of course, one has jump into water deep enough, preferably far away from land in order to avoid being "saved" by well-intentioned people. By using non-removable weights, a person eliminates the possibility of having "second thoughts", as the weights would take the person straight down to the bottom of the body of water. If you manage to actually jump into the water, you may still suffer SI, but there wouldn't be one darn thing you could do about it.

If done right. You should only be conscious for few seconds before passing out

Drop hanging breaks your neck and kills you more or less instantly. Can be difficult because you need some height.
Suspension hanging can take up to 30 minutes to kill, but loss of consciousness occurs after 10-15 seconds if done right.

There's an inherent risk of failure of all of these methods, including firearms. Some people have survived situations that you wouldn't think is possible to survive. It's ironic really, "life is fragile" but we sure can resist a lot.

Losing consciousness in 30 seconds or less, no pain, no way of being resuscitated, and all without guns is a fairly tall order unfortunately.

You can always combine methods. If you are able to get a prescription or black market benzodiazepine meds, they can help with si and losing consciousness.

Why does everyone say "if done right"? What does that suppose to mean? I thought you just get a good rope, tie a slipknot, put above adams apple, tighten it and do it.

"If done right" means compressing your carotid arteries, cutting off the blood flow to your brain. If you do it without knowledge of what you're doing, you'll likely be in a lot of pain for a (relatively) long time.

In my personal case 5 to 15 seconds is right. But by measuring the brainwaves of dyning humans it was found out that there are complex activities immediately before brain death.

Unless I am missing something, the compression of carotid arteries happens anyways, no? You require about 5kg of pressure to close them off. I am almost 100kg so that is 20x the required amount. So, just putting the rope above adams apple is all that I need to do.

I think you have collected more misinformations than facts.
Can you tell me what misinformation exactly?

Just depends if you do partial or full hanging, if you do full there's a chance you could break your neck and lose consciousness instantly or you could choke out for a short time and it's harder to mess up. But partial is harder to do properly and likely the ones you've seen of people staying conscious for a full minute were from botched attempts at partial hanging, but if you do it properly you will lose consciousness in around 15-20 seconds bearing in mind you don't do full hanging and break your neck.

I almost managed to hang myself, but accidentally stood back on the chair when my body started to thrash around. I felt a panic throughout my entire body as I started choking and convulsing. I wasn't suspended long enough for my body to "give up" like I've read online, so I'm unsure if that is true. Honestly I might try it again in the future.

I considered to hang myself. Coworker of mine succeeded. I talked to a friend about it. She is a corrrectional officer in a prison. She said hanging is the most popular method. If you suceed it can take up to 30 mins or more. Inmates are usually found laying in their own bodily fluids and feces. They often end up with massive brain damage an become a complete vegetable. That prospect scared me a lot.

Full hanging is not good, it's choking.

Suspension hanging is the quick peaceful one.

Check out the megathreads, there's great collections there.

If done correctly, full will knock you out quickly, 3 to 10 seconds, usually under 6. Watch a few videos.
Done correctly is the key. Search the threads. Set it up correctly. The only way you "strangle" is if you really mess it up.
