Happy Birthday. A funny thing I noticed with facebook when I used it is that if you have enough friends there's a birthday just about every day. It's a lot of work wishing people happy bday every day. Think of the millions of collective man-hours of people doing that activity!

I requested my small family to not do any specific age number for my birthday this year, It would be too weird for them if I said I wasn't celebrating it at all. I already forgot my exact age other than the latter part of the current decade. It's my experiment with unshackling myself from "time".

Seen as its my birthday, how do youse feel about your birthday? I know a lot of us have more negative feelings about it than most people.

I myself have mixed feelings on mine. Part of me doesn't like it as now I am going to be less seen as a child as I grow up as I feel like I am mentally one and am helpless by myself so I need emotional and physical support a lot of time. I worry I will no longer be seen as someone that needs to be looked after. This is especially the case this time cus now I am no longer a teenager and now 20. However I do like the attention I get from the day as it shows I am of worth as well as the presents family gives me. Tho this year I haven't asked for much except to start the process for a scrotectomy, a surgery for gender transition but honestly aside from that I don't know what else I want. The surgery is a good enough present anyways for me. Also we often go to a restaurant I like on my day so I will also have yummy food.

so if you regret your creation and want death more than you can at least look forward to you are one year closer to that. I myself am happy I am one year closer to it.

You can wish me happy birthday if you want to but this thread is more about youse birthdays, not mine. After all my purpose is to serve others, not myself.

I used to absolutely love my birthday, but for some reason, this year especially I found myself dreading it or hoping it wouldn't come. I remember no thinking I would ever make it to 18, and now I am 19? The thought kind of disgusts me. I am proud of you and I hope your surgery goes well!

Happy birthday! Also had mine recently. Always hated birthdays, just makes me think about how im getting older and how much time ive wasted. Celebration of the one thing i regret most in the world lol.

As you put it "makes you less of a child" is a sentiment I highly agree with

It's well evident with me with my asd as I can't seem to move on from the things that are considered childish teen things and behavior that is immature for an adult

It's one thing that makes me despise birthdays as it brings you deeper into shame and you'll not be viewed fondly by anyone

i no longer celebrate my birthday or really even pay attention to it. to do otherwise is to gain visibility into who cares and who doesn't and, well, what I don't know won't hurt me... in theory.

because, try as i might to distance myself from it, the day itself -- and the lead-up to it -- is always the worst time of year in terms of mental state. it's like i'm wired to spiral into the deepest, worst kind of depression each time! very exhausting.
