I know you have to go deep and "down the road" but I am always surprised when people succeed.

My neighbour did it and I doubt he ever cut before. He was young and living with parents, did it at night in the bathroom. They found him in the morning I think.
Luck?

wow that's very low. Isn't hanging closer to 50%? which I don't get because it's so difficult to hang yourself. Yet people do it all the time.

Here you can find information on lethality of methods
Lost all hope website is good for some info. They say the most successful method is jumping from I believe a minimum of 30 m meters. But it takes a lot of courage to do that. I have sorted the places but I don't think I could do that. It's just easier to die in your sleep. But that Hass to be done right for fear ofEnding up at cripple

It's indeed strange. Cutting one's wrists is about as synonymous with suicide as is hanging or sleeping pills, but it seems to be a lousy method. It's messy, it's uncomfortable and you're bound to be very limited in coordinating anything else other doing the deed. Only knowledge I can add is to keep the cuts under water. It'll reduce the painful pressure and the blood won't seal the wound like it would if it were exposed to air.

I am afraid of heights and jumping, I would rather stab myself in the neck.
Strangely long before I became suicidal I had this irrational longing to jump when I was standing on a balcony of a high building. I googled it and it's pretty common. Weird.

only 1% of slit wrists will kill. you need to cut very, very deep & it doesn't need to be "down the road." just by an artery - most do it on wrists but actually the biggest artery is on the thighs! it is also supremely painful and slow. :0
