I was worried when buying a rope. But then later realized the average person doesn't even remotely think about suicide. So just tell them you like to exercise.

Is this one of those doorway ones? Disassemble it if you can and put it in a duffle bag

This. This, this, this and this.

In fact, kinda off-topic, but this applies to most things, actually, except the obvious (SN, for instance).
For example, I spend a lot of my time in the firearms megathread, and I've seen people worry about purchasing a gun, wondering if they'll seem suspicious. Not realising that there are plenty of newbie gun buyers who just feel the need to get something for self-protection. Said self-protection involving shooting either another human or, in some cases, a large animal, so purchasing what one thinks is best to end oneself isn't as suspicious, because the best option to kill another human in self-defense will be about as effective in killing oneself.

Sorry for the off-topic tangent, it just hit me I suppose.

Well to further this and maybe help OP…

Tuesday I went to gun store. I've never been in one and never owned a gun. I don't sleep so I look like complete shit. Using ChatGPT I determined a Glock g17 might be a good solution for me. I just said I was new; interested in self defense at home, and a friend recommended the g17. No questions. Guns out and handled a few. No suspicion. Ultimately it's still VERY rare and no one can thinks about it. Guy was really nice too I felt bad for somewhat deceiving him.

i don't know maybe it's just my social anxiety
do

is it weird to carry a pull up bar? because it doesn't fit my bag
not too sure, tho I don't think the uber will know what it's for, just that it could be potentially used in a fight, dmage the car accidentally, etc. Whether or not they are concerned about fight risk can vary, but being friendly and greeting the driver might help ease their nerves.

The uber driver won't even notice, in my opinion. They probably won't recognize what it is and won't care. But they also don't know you're going to an airbnb, you could be going to a friends house. Maybe you're giving away your old pull up bar you never use. But like others have said, there's a 0% chance they will associate it with ctb

Do they check you at the door?
Is it a hostle?
Carry it in. A half barrel should concern them. Exercise should not.

Dude, I stuck a full-size vacuum cleaner in the trunk of an Uber once. As long as you do not ding up their car with it, they do not care.

As others have said. Nobody will care. You might get the driver that asks you what it is if they've never seen one before, and you can say its a pullup bar. The only ones who might be suspicious, would be the ones that think the same way that we do. If you saw someone buying a fishing pole, you would think they are going fishing. If you saw someone buy charcoal, you would think that they are having a barbeque. if you saw someone buying rope, you would think that they are tying something. To almost everyone, the things they buy and carry, are for the obvious. A pull up bar will be seen as someone using it as a pull up bar. Nothing suspicious at all. Don't sweat it.
