It is a little difficult to answer without context- as the above member suggested.
I suppose if it's something living, like a child or pet or plant (lol,) then, you would need to focus on their needs. It isn't them ridiculing you. They presumably need your care so- I suppose you try to give it as best you can for their sake. I suppose you remember what it was like to be them and to be so reliant on another so, you try to be the support you wished you'd had. Hopefully, they will be grateful and build a strong bond with you, even if other people are less appreciative.
If it's inanimate- some creative work they've asked you to look after or something, I suppose you can either temry to appreciate it for what it is. Hope that people will appreciate the care you're taking of it. With something inanimate, you could presumably refuse to be responsible for it easier. Suggest that someone else might be better suited looking after it.
Ultimately, I suppose you have to try to be the bigger person. Still commit to your responsibilities, even if other people belittle you. That's likely especially important if the thing you will be responsible for is sentient. Ultimately, it's not their fault that other people are treating you this way.
