Percy Bysshe Shelley wrote a poem named "Sadak the Wanderer;" only a fragment survives. The creation was likely spurred by Sadak in Search of the Waters of Oblivion, a painting made in 1812 by John Martin. Sadak himself is a character in a 1754 story, Tales of the Genii, by James Ridley. Sadak is on a quest to find the "waters of oblivion."

The painting struck me when I first saw it. Sadak is impossibly weary, clinging to an unforgiving surface, pressing onward to find something he has never seen. The landscape before him is hellish, rough, and foreboding. The end to his quest is not within sight.

Whether nepenthe, a dipper filled from the river Lethe, or a quick potion to strike one down like a thunderbolt, my struggle continues as I search for a subtractive panacea, a palliative to erase me.

One of my favorite movies. She's sentenced to death and burns alive but her death is a triumph.

I chose it because it was a beautiful experience I'll never forget.

I was walking back home on a busy street, people infront and behind me when I see this pigeon so close to the sidewalk, alone in a corner. I noticed a green puddle close to it assuming it was its vomit. I had cookies in my bag that I was bringing home from work. I walked about 10 steps forward, stopped, went infront of a store to get out of the way of the sea of people, got the cookies out of my bag and head back to the pigeon. I kneeled beside it, cookies in hand and started crumbling them next to it. First it looked like it was gonna fly away but was too sick to even attempt it. Then noticed the cookie, stayed and started eating. All the while the sea of people 1foot away walking by as a share this moment with the pigeon.

I very much recommend this movie - especially to depressed and suicidal people. It captures human pain and suffering so perfectly. Much of the film is beautifully shot close ups to emphasize the emotions of the actors. I first watched it at a time of horrible depression and isolation. It did not cheer me up, but made me feel less alone and I felt an odd existential beauty in human suffering and death, and that death can be a triumphant means of escaping the suffering and cruelty of this world. It made me cry when I thought myself emotionally dead.

I enjoy and studied art history in university and I regularly go to galleries and especially love conceptual art.

The first picture I choose to be my avatar is The Rothko Chapel and "it is a non-denominational chapel in Houston, Texas, founded by ... On its walls are fourteen black but color-hued paintings by Mark Rothko" Rothko suffered from depression and later CTB by slicing his wrists.

Frida Kahlo's "Thinking About Death" is a favorite. Like probably every artist/art lover, I went through a Frida stage and devoured every book I could find.

Currently, my avatar is Jean- Michel Basquiat's "Riding With Death" and he struggled with a heroin addiction and died of a "speedball" overdose.

I didn't seek these particular works for this site, but I guess it's fair to say, my artistic interests lie dark.

My picture is actually concept art for a cut race in Mass Effect dubbed the "Hue-Mon." It basically was going to be an ever shifting pile of flesh that decided to fit it by shoving itself into an envirosuit and hiding it's face of teeth and eyes behind a human mask. It would have been AWESOME… But also it fit with my personal feelings towards myself at the time.
