How can I prepare them?

You can't really, but you can spend as much time with them as possible.

Whatever you do, you won't be able to. Nothing will prepare them for the pain it will cause. As someone who had a family member CTB I can confirm it is something you never recover from. Sorry it's not what you want to hear.

How can I prepare them?
Hi

In similar boat, how old are they? How strong is your bond with them?, if they are young they won't have any idea the little ones live in a different reality to adult world. Do you live under same roof? My approach has been to slowly unravel the bonds I had made, I am doing this by distancing myself from my nephew.

Don't think you can. The people left behind will have to take that on somehow. It sucks. Enjoy your time with them.

Yes you will hurt them, it's an unpleasant truth but truth noneless, that what keep lots of people to not ctb probably.

I'm trying the opposite, you don't want to give them any more memories to remember you by, I've always felt the loss of my mother more than my grandmother because of frequent exposure to her. Relationship wise they should have been equally important, but I'm wired weirdly. Failing that you can be an asshole nobody misses an asshole.
