So worried that when I CTB the police will take loads of things from my house.
I have a notebook with quite specific instructions in for my funeral, apart from a delayed email what can I do to ensure this is found in time?

You could send it to your next of kin on Saturday morning by special delivery so they will be guaranteed to receive it on Monday, this way you will have Sat and Sun to ctb, but if you change your mind get ready to answer some difficult questions lol

Have you considered making a will? Especially having a kid, it might be a sensible move.

I think you can even send a letter from another town. It usually takes a bit longer to send letters from small villages/towns to bigger cities.

You should be able to specify funeral requests in your actual formal will. That way they are most likely to be adhered to.

Delayed email and then mail a hard copy of the arrangements to someone (or several people) you can trust. I don't trust technology enough to fully rely on any delayed emails, but mailing a couple hard copies of things out sounds like a good backup plan. But, you can probably rest assured that the police are not going to take and keep your notebook with your arrangements, especially if you leave a note that says "Please Give to Family" (or whoever you want it to go to).

Make sure it has a note stating the contents and make sure it will be easy to find.

The Will is your best bet you fill it out online and you stipulate you last wishes for funeral arrangements https://www.smartwill.app/ I think we used this one it only cost £19.00 one off payment and comes in a couple of weeks, its legal as well.

You could leave it with a friend or family afterwards.

Cheers Geo

The police can take anything they view as potential evidence, especially if it relates to the death, because they will need to rule out homicide.

If you have a solicitor then you can give them details 'in the event of your death' and they are not allowed to disclose to anyone until their instructions. However if you specify CTB or dates etc they have a duty of care to tell police so keep it simple - this is what I want in the event of my death type of thing. When you CTB leave a note for the police that your solicitor must be contacted - they have an obligation to follow that instruction

Yes - on my last attempt they took my suicide note and it never got returned or passed on, and when i was reported for a safe and well they broke in my house and took my will and it hasn't been returned or passed on

2 parts:
1 - Email: Take photos of the instructions and email them to yourself. Create an email groupCCing your main contacts. Telling them where the hard copy of instructions is located.
2 - Hard Copy: Put the instructions in a large conspicuous box or package on your main kitchen table with a note. If you cover all bases, there's no way they will miss it.
