i imagine a lot of people here sleep too much cuz depression tends to do that. i personally go back and forth between sleeping 12 hours a day and sleeping 4 hours a day, for a few weeks at a time. today i seem to have swung back to 4 hours. insomnia is a bitch. anyway i found myself wondering how fucked up everyone else's sleep is around here

For the last three days I got a total of 10 hours of sleep. I have insomnia. I've used to be on mirtazapine which helped a lot with sleep, it made me fall asleep very fast and it made me feel sedated. But it also made me feel hungry a lot and I didn't want to gain weight much so I changed it.

I've been trying to get myself to go to bed earlier in an attempt to stop feeling tired all the time but I think i'm physically incapable of getting in the right mindset to sleep before 10:30, no matter what my eyelids tell me.
Could be worse I guess. I can sleep for 12 hours and still be tired, really annoying.

I may be the first person to literally never fall asleep again once my teeth give out and am forced to sleep on concrete. Unfortunately this will not kill you.
Microsleep is when your brain falls partially asleep. It's not quite sleep it's just "rest enough" to wake you back again. You get it and then a jolt and are wide awake again.
It is excrutiating how badly I want to die and cannot. Teased with the thought of death via suicide before realizing I'm not gonna get it. Teased with the thought that once I stop thinking this thought it we'll get better, or I'll go home and relax and it'll get bettee, but it doesnt. Psychological warfare on myself.Every thought in my head is poison.it will get unimaginably worse.
Lost 500 bucks because I can't think anymore and scheduled a trt doctor who was out of network.18000 more days.

At the moment I suspect the real issue is me, not really the insomnia, if it makes sense.
I'm using the night as an escape, so I go to bed when the sun rises, and sleep between 4 to 6 hours from there. Where I live it's very noisy, so it's pretty much impossible to sleep well in the morning, it's much better in winter.
Other than that, my sleep schedule rotates, somewhat. The number of hours I sleep and the number of hours I stay awake never adds up to 24, so it inevitably shifts over time.

When I can sleep it is normally twelve or more hours. The days I can't sleep, I am up until I pass out from exhaustion. This usually happens after a long bout of self imposed mental abuse and ruminating. Those sleeps last an hour or two at best.

Horrible. I bed rot everyday when I'm not working, showering or doing household chores. I can feel my body getting weaker and take forever to fall asleep but am always tired.

On average I fall asleep at 3AM and wake up at 12PM, so about 9 hours of sleep. I'm very lucky to have a full-time job that allows me to do that, but if I didn't have a job, my schedule would rotate (ie. I'd go to bed about two hours later everyday), like @Higurashi415. It's called "Non-24 Sleep Wake Disorder."
I really wish society would be more accepting of different sleep schedules. I find it almost impossible to go to bed before midnight, even when I'm super tired, even when I woke up really early that day. Just not in my DNA.
Every day, I take just shy of a gram of Melatonin between 8 and 8:30 PM, and try to fall asleep before 10. Melatonin helps stabilize my sleep schedule. I wake up between 5:30 and 7 AM.
Melatonin causes me to dream more vividly, and weirder dreams, which I like. But if I take more than a gram, like two grams, I wake up in the middle of the night usually after 3-4 hours of sleep, making it a biphasic sleep. I avoid this because I'd rather not be up an hour in the middle of the night.

Variable in how much per day , Around 6-9 Hours, often a 1-2 hour nap during the day that I don't even notice or remember bc that's how my NEET life is.
On the other hand, the times of going to sleep & waking up tend to be somewhat cracked. Starting sleep from 10 - 12 (Rarely somewhat l8r) and waking up from anywhere between 4 AM - 10 AM . Definitely sub-optimal but mother just couldn't help but endlessly complain abt it I swear.
Sleeping used to be a good way of passing time for me when I felt depressed or overwhelmed but got Insonmia recently and up all night and no sleeping pills work :(
I used to sleep 8H in one go, but now I sleep in 2 hour blocks.
It's very frustrating. It doesn't matter if I stay up for days, or go to bed late, I still wake up every 2 hours.
I've tried medication such as Melatonin, Mirtazapine, but all they did for me was intensify my dreams (no nightmares) but I still woke up multiple times in the night.
Now I've just learnt that this is my new normal and I try to have a little nap during the day cause I am just so exhausted.
