I'm trying to find a hotel to ctb in. Doing some searching around, it looks like sometimes the cost of turn over/cleaning/repairing the hotel room could be charged to me (some cases seem extreme like tearing down drywall due to the smell), leading to there being less in my will for my family. Does anyone have any industry knowledge of this? I am wondering which chains would be better. I'm in the USA and will be in California, likely. I ideally would like to find something with a decent view, since it's the last thing I'll see, but I suppose that isn't strictly required. I have ordered a body bag and plan to be inside it on the floor when I drink my N. The body bag has handles and I will zip it mostly up. Hopefully this will make it easier for the people who have to deal with my body. I also plan to leave an envelope with some cash and a note for the hotel staff, so they can take it as a small payment for having to deal with my sorry ass.

I want to leave a few days of buffer time to make sure I'm actually dead after I drink the N. It seems that coma is possible for a time. I am thinking to have a buffer of 3-5 days. I don't mind paying for extra days, but I want to minimize the smell that will permeate into the hotel room and cause trouble for the people there.

Ideally I would ctb in my own house (which I own and live alone in), but I don't want my family who will inherit the house to either associate my death with a spot in the house in the case that they decide to move in. And if they decide to sell, I don't want the value of the house to be decreased due to a suicide death inside the house.

If the hotel wants that they probably will try to charge your cc first

The second option would be to sue your estate. Do you really think a hotel is going to sue your estate - very bad PR not to mention the legal costs involved.

My suggestion is pay for the hotel with a CC with a ridiculously low limit or find a hotel that takes cash deposits these do exist in the world and the deposit isn't often more than like 100 bucks. Another option is book the hotel with the CC and cancel the card before carrying out the CTB.

I wouldn't leave 3-5 days buffer time as that is only going to make it worse on the staff. If the N works you are going to be dead fast. I would leave 2 days tops and really that's too much.

Sometimes if you stay in a hotel and the do not disturb sign is up for more than a few days they will contact you anyway to make sure you aren't dead

Disclaimer: all advice given here was based on a probably true assumption you have a legal system resembling the US

Believe it or not, they sometimes ignore the "do not disturb sign," regardless of when it was put up. I arrived at one hotel around 3am and was jet lagged. I put the sign up so the cleaning staff wouldn't try to clean in the morning since I would be asleep. Around 9AM there was a knock on the door which I ignored, then they phoned to say I had the "do not disturb" sign up, but wanted to know if I wanted the room cleaned anyway.

It seems that sometimes there is a coma for a day or two after. I was leaving the extra days in case that happens. To make it easier on the staff in the case that I'm not in a coma, I would have the body bag. The bag has 3 handles on each side. The bag is also supposed to be good at keeping the smell inside. I was hoping that would mostly be the case even if there is a small amount not zipped up.
