What's the chances of surviving throwing yourself in front of a truck at 100km/hr? I survived a car at that speed so I don't want to mess it up again

Very low. Even if you survived the initial impact, getting run over by a truck is going to smash you into the pavement with enough force to crush your skull.

Also other drivers, passengers, maybe pedestrians ... stepping into traffic is a pretty good way to take someone else with you. Train conductors get bad PTSD, but a truck driver could get killed.

I thought about getting run over many time but then for one, when I CTB, I want to minimize the pain I am going to spread, and second, I don't want my death to be the center of attention.

I gotta admit a couple months ago I thought of walking in front of a car, but I couldn't bring myself to hurt the person in the car.

Well you gotta think what would happen if you didn't die on the impact. You could end up being a vegetable (brain dead) or have to live the rest of your life in pain. Your attempt could be ended up in the news and get a lot of attention.

No matter what you're going through, you have zero right to inflict pain and trauma on the truck driver, other people on the road and anyone who may witness this. I can't believe someone would ask something so terrible.

I would think that there's a very good chance that you would die but... There are plenty of resources available here & I hope that (should you choose to ctb) you choose a method that won't potentially cause harm to others. We're here if you want to talk.

Think about the driver though
Couple weeks ago I stood in the road awaiting some traffic, as approached me I thought what the hell am I doing (although in a very dazed and sad way). I just wanted to 'go' and be out of my nightmare here on earth BUT the thought of the people who would witness it and the impact would have on the driver involved (no fault of his/her own) made me stop and move back onto the pavement to safety. Two things, I couldn't put anyone through this ordeal and secondly I dont think I deserve to pass away violently like that, however bad things are, I still care about myself and wish for it to be as peaceful as possible.

It seems like it would be very likely be effective, but as others have said there would be too much collateral damage for my taste.

You could have left it without the last sentence, no need to patronize someones thoughts on the matter. This is a forum on suicide after all.

A relative of mine survived a head on collision, only to get out of her car and be hit and killed (along with three others) by a semi whose driver wasn't paying attention. It was massively traumatic to everyone. Would not recommend.

As a side note, the accident was heavily reported for quite awhile, so if you're someone who wants to stay out of the news, this is definitely not your method.

Please don't step in front of traffic.
I was involved in an accident 3 years ago, survived with a serious injury.
The poor guy who hit me has yet to recover

Yeah I'm going to have to discourage this method of going, not just because of it's reliability of success, but also since it negatively impact's another person's life.

I almost did this.. which to this day I can't believe how far I went. Have a drunk in public on my record now and thousands of dollars in hospital bills because I got drunk on side of high way but last minute freaked out and called 911 on myself. Luckily I didn't get a DUI.

Now I think how shitty of a person do you have to be to do this. it would be horrible and dangerous for others too. I'm ashamed.

Please don't do this. If you want to ctb, then sure that's your choice; but you're talking about potentially ruining someone else's life who is completely innocent in this and effectively making them murderers. It's cruel and unnecessary.

Pretty much as everyone else else as said... it could work, but it could be traumatic for the driver. I'm assuming by 'truck' you're meaning Semi or the various other terms for like 18 wheeled vehicles. or at least the massive step-up into massive fuel tank ones.

I know terms are different in different areas.

I'll just say that I've worked at a place that did management for trucking companies--including safety. Some drivers are traumatized just by getting a ticket for speeding! Others can lose their license, or otherwise not be able to drive for months (losing all income) just because they had an accident that wasn't even their fault, even with video showing it wasn't their fault--just because they had to wait for everything to be taken care of. It's happened, I've seen a truck driver be fortunate enough to get another job at the company temporally while waiting to get his driving privileges back, and he wasn't even at fault.

There's much better ways to do things that will only effect you (and well people who are used to it or are paid for it), without needing to get people involved that are just going about their day.

I mean do whatever you want of course, but even say if you don't mean commercial truck--it could be devastating to the person driving.

Not only could you mentally scar the driver for live, if you don't make it clear that your intention was suicide you could send the driver to jail as well.

I have considered train since it has such a high mortality ranking on lostallhope and because I just don't know how to do it. I don't want to hurt anyone though so won't.
The truck is not a good idea. It will cause a lot of damage to the driver, their name will forever be associated with the incident and your death as well as the legal trouble and the mental health damage others above have mentioned.

I have been google searching for an hour now for this kind of deaths in my country and i found around 10 deaths ,one guy seriously injoured from the waist and below and one slightly injured.it has its chances of failure but could be well played if you drink the SN drink while the truck is coming just before jumping infrond of the truck in an standing potition?

As everyone else has said, just don't do this. And don't do the train method either.

As well as psychologically traumatising the driver, you may also go through the windscreen and/or cause them to swerve, crash and physically injure or even kill themselves.

You could have left it without the last sentence, no need to patronize someones thoughts on the matter. This is a forum on suicide after all.

Just because this is a suicide forum does not mean that any person or any method is exempt from moral critique or discussion.

im not sure they didnt specify that, but i think either way the chance of surviving and living with life altering injuries is a possibility, there was another story of a 80mph head on crash in a car and the guy was fine only broke his toe, so miracles can happen with these unreliable methods i dont think roadway accidents are the way to go :mmm:
