Got everything set up but couldn't get off the chair. I don't even know if it would have worked or not because I didn't have the guts to get off the chair. I get one foot off but can't get the other. I pull my neck as far down as I can. I just can't walk off the chair. I don't want to jump off the chair in case it doesn't work, I'll just end up damaging my neck. I think next time I do it, I'll just push the chair over with my feet while still on it to get me off.

Any advice on how to finally get off the chair?

Think about all your pain and why you chose to do this. Remember all the painful moments in life which made you suffer.

Did that. Just made me push my neck as low as I could while bending my knees, didn't help me with actually getting off the chair unfortunately.

I have the same problem, i need a chair that collapses when you press a button on a remote or just a trap door.

As unpleasant as this is, remember you now have everything ready for that time when you really need to go.
Medications and alcohol help, but use too much and you just wake up tomorrow.
More people than expected take the autoerotic route. Most probably did not have death in mind, but kept working it until the end.

I wonder how I'll do when I get there...

I think it depends on whether your fear is that the method won't work or it's the fear of death. If it't the former, you can practice passing out by holding the other end of the rope in your hand, so that you can't die. Once you experience how it feels and how quick it is, you won't be afraid that it doesn't work anymore.

If it's the fear of dying, and just SI, then I don't know. The people who know the answer can't tell you, because they're already dead.
It's the pain on my neck for me. I don't care about the pain after I'm off the chair but trying to get off the chair while feeling the pain worsen is hard for me.

Theres a technique how you can get nearly unconscious while you're still on the chair. If you do that and than step down from the chair you will feel as minimal pain as possible.

Maybe your rope is to thin for your body weight. I weigh 90 kg and experimented with various ropes, 12 mm was too painful. 20 mm is bearable and made me pass out repeatedly within 5 to 15 seconds.

Interesting. Please elaborate if you tested it. I tried to do so (tightening forcefully the slipknot with both hands behind my neck), with mixed success: failure with 15mm rope (didn't pass out), almost successful with 10mm rope (about to faint, but painful then cancelled). Will try to refine the technique, as it looks promising.

I guess the thinner the rope, the more it digs into the skin of your neck and into the arteries, though it would be painful.
