My sleep schedule is completely fucked to say the least
Today I woke up around 8:00 PM, I went to bed around 10:00 AM. I'm on heavy medication, both anti depressants and sleeping medication, I'm in a constant headache and my body always feels extremely hot despite it being cold (It's been like this for months, I can't even listen to music). My last psychiatric appointment went like shit, less than 10 minutes and he didn't even listen to me on altering medication. I haven't gone outside in days either, not like I could, even if I wanted (by the time I wake up it's already pitch black outside).

Mentally I feel better, despite being in a constant headache and heat, I believe if I managed to fix this sleep schedule maybe I could get better and enjoy things better again.
I want to ask for help, I want to get advice on how to fix this because my psychiatrist doesn't listen to me and my psychologist will only see me in late December, there's nothing I can do in terms of professional health care advice, so I desperately came here for advice

Thanks in advance.

honestly, you could try staying up 24hrs from 8 pm to 8 pm. I frequently go 24 hours awake and it isn't difficult for me. once you push through the period you usually go to bed at, you can keep going. if not, take some caffeine. you'll likely wake up in the morning.

if that's too challenging, try to make small, atomic steps towards sleeping earlier. gradually, you can shift from waking up at 8 to 7:30, 7, 6:30, and so on.

i'm in the process of making a schedule for myself. i think having a set time in the morning one must be out of bed by is helpful; sleeping in after a bad night's rest always spirals for me. if you would find it helpful, we could talk every morning about how you slept the previous night. and i could try to encourage you to start your day. 💚

I recommend staying awake for a period of 24h so you can reset your schedule. It's quicker and works quite effectively. My boyfriend has sleeping problems and he was done that occasionally, works wonders, it just requires some effort to continue awake. You can make that easier by playing videogames that incite a bit of stress, like a shooter or a MOBA or just a game with fighting of some kind. The key is to keep yourself engaged so you're not too relaxed and start falling asleep.

After you've done that, see how you feel with your new schedule and try to keep at it for several days so your body and your mind can get used to being awake during day time, getting accustomed to new habits, all of that. Since you're feeling so many side effects (headache, feeling hot while cold, exhaustion), don't forget to have compassion towards yourself and take things slowly, with care.

Trying too many different things at once to try and fix all the problems can be counterproductive so let us know how you get on with this change for example, if you want to try it out. After you've made that change and are used to it, you can report back, tell us how you feel and we can provide some advice based on that. Small steps, you got this

I agree with trying to stay up for a 24 hour period, there is a type of reset that occurs. Difficult, but it is worth it. Be sure to stick to a regular schedule after or you will be back in the same boat quickly. You could try a more gradual shift of your sleep/wake schedule but this takes longer but it is easier. Good luck

One thing that helped me with this was an app called Beeminder. I've set it so that if I go to bed later than 1am, it would charge me $5. Couple months ago I stopped using it and now my schedule is fucked up again.

But I know my issue is almost purely mental. I know physically I could fix it, either with small steps or by "skipping" a night like others suggested. But I simply don't want to. I like nights. Because there's no one around.

Also keep in mind that for sleep quality, consistency is the important thing.

Hope you get better 🤞
