I have never done drugs. I was scared about their effect. In my last clinic there was a psychologist. His opinion was people who did drugs threw away their life and he did not really care about them. (I think even if they ctb) So he made a clear distinction about people who have done drugs and not. What do you think about that? And have you done drugs and why?

Haven't done them, but I can see the appeal. Constantly being in reality without all the optimism-bias applied is very difficult to cope with.

ive been smoking weed for a few years now. however its the only drug i can get my hands on, i wouldnt mind trying others.

i think he's right however i disagree with his emotions towards it. for the most part people that do drugs are trying to escape, fit in, ect. ive noticed this after talking to a few people that do them. theyre just people with a different kind of coping mechanism if anything he should be helping them, not looking down on them because of the way they are processing their pain/problems.

Yes,. Numerous drugs / substances.. To numb myself, be sedated, and Just carry on with everyday life in general.

Great way to go, healthy? ... Not so much, but it's my body and ultimately my choice. If it helps my death to come any quicker.... All the better.

Just my .02.

Yes, I have. Why? Just to escape to a better reality I guess.
A DMT experience I had was increible. I had found all the answers to life and the universe but can't remember anything lol.

Anyway, I'm just with alcohol now. Love it!

I think having an opinion is fine .... being a judgemental twat (the psychologist) is not.

Weed, but in moderation. It helps with depression and stimulates appetite. I haven't done any other drugs, and my system can't handle alcohol.

Oh and I have smoked a bit of cannabis and done a small amount of speed in my youth. Drugs arent my thing but like alcohol, sex, work, exercise etc .... anything can become a coping mechanism with the potential to become destructive .

I believe they're vastly over stigmatised. That being said, I've been through addiction recovery and have learnt to control bad habits quite well, now I just do it for enjoyment or to prevent boredom, or genuinely to just control my emotions when I'm particularly in a bad state of mind.
I've touched on pretty much all types of drug from smoking, alcohol, to derivatives of m-amphetamines, have had addictive phases to both speed and coke, am a fan of opiates like morphine and codeine (lean in particular), and have tried LSD, 2cb and a bunch of other stuff a handful of times each. Obviously Xanax and Valium for months as well. Sometimes I wonder whether this was in attempt to self medicate partially since I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until recently, so now I'm prescribed Ritalin for it and feel less inclined to "need" something to provide me excitement or anything like that.
It could also just be because I'm from quite a rural area, and most of my friends live a while away - so there's not really a whole lot else to do.
I won't lie though, with some of them like coke you just do it a few times and then it's like the best thing in the world, super difficult to stop the habit, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's not already fallen into the trap themselves.
Your psychologist sounds like a bit of a dbag. A lot of people who even actively use don't want to be doing it, some are super difficult to escape - my biggest struggle in addiction was with alcohol, and still is. I could never justify alcohol over any of the others I've done, and I know it can make things just as bad, even if it's not from the first drink.
Obviously before ever doing any I was very against them and was brought up in the mindset that they were used by bad people who would rob or hurt you, or be the type to shout crazily in the streets. Not always true, but possible. I like to think I'm pretty good to be around, I just find myself enjoying them over other things since I can't find interest in much else. I've got a lot cleaner recently, however, I still drink 5 nights / 7 as I don't have much to do in lockdown and I find it improves me socially.

I have had no issue with the health sides of any of them since I don't really care for my health.

Yes, I've experimented with quite a few different types of drugs/combinations because I used to be a curious individual. I don't do illegal drugs anymore.

I did drugs for many years. They ruined my life in many ways and now I can't feel OK without them, however the reason I wanted to do drugs was because I was already depressed and a loser and my life was going nowhere, I was already failing at things most of us can do. It was something to look forward to, something to help me cope. It became an obsession and something I needed to get through the day.

Lots. Some of them made me feel genuinely good, some of them gave me confidence, and some of them just took me away from reality for a bit. But in the end, they always wear off, and they made things worse in the long run.

No, and that probably has something to do with the fact I was raised on amphetamines from age 6 to 13. Legal or illegal, I won't even mess with Morning Glory seeds, although I believe all drugs should be legal.

Weed is something I will not consider. I have AD/HD, and weed is the worst drug somebody with AD/HD can possibly take.

yeah, another addict here.
why? initially a combination of genuine curiosity and a desperate need to escape my reality. eventually, yknow, tolerance develops and there you have it, you're just another junkie.
the stigma and shame is bullshit and harmfully inaccurate.
I could more easily name what I haven't done than list what I have.
but to be brief, stimulants made my anorexic inner monologue sing in delight, and opiates feel like the closest thing to home/safe space I've ever had - not everyone who tries opiates experiences the "warm hug" feeling, but some of us do. and we're way more likely to keep going back and boom, more junkies throwing our lives away.
oh, yeah, and that dr you paraphrased is an ass who clearly doesn't know what they're talking about. people like that are why so many of us die/are refused help and treated like lepers.

Yeah, and Im quite ashamed of it when I look back.
I had a cocaine addiction about 2 years back, wasted so much money and it has harmed my mental health.
I was always paranoid and scared but I feel like it made it even worse.
Im planning to do LSD next week simply because Im very drug curious.
Also tried Ketamine but I didnt enjoy it as much, might give it another go.
And as to why I did them? Nothing to lose.

Many, loads of weed and cocaine a lot of alcohol and some few other things mixed in. My best times were when I was intoxicated, sobriety has taken me to some bad places. It's probably had a huge effect on my mental stability over the years but nobody cares about that anyway. Without drugs I would've died a child but with them I made it to an adult which is something... I urge people to at least try these things, most warnings come from a corrupted source I think people should have the choice to do these things rather than forced into addiction through malpractice of doctors or economic crisis. Be free

Yes, I do drugs constantly and many of them, I can't remember the last time I was really sober and I'm not exaggerating.

Why? because they get me through they day and then help me sleep, I would've killed myself years ago if I didn't have the comfort of a substance that gives me a feeling of bliss and makes me forget about my real and incurable issues. Also, I've always been facinated with them, the different effects and how they affect your brain are so interesting and different for each substance.

Let me put it this way, imagine it's raining, it's cold, dark and you have no way of escaping it, then you find a warm blanket, you see the sun and there's no more pain... that's how drugs feel like to me, although the blanket wears thin and the rain becomes stronger the more you use them, some times there's no other thing you can do.

It sounds like your psychologist is a narrow minded ass that categorizes a broad range of people into a simplistic single group.
"Drugs" is a broad category. I assume you mean illicit drugs because alcohol, nicotine and caffeine are drugs as are antidepressants. The effects and risks of taking LSD are vastly different than those of injecting heroin so it's silly to put them in the same category.
I'm not condoning drugs but there are many great thinkers, musicians, artists, etc. that have done "drugs."

I've dabbled in drugs over the years, usually falling into whatever a bf was already doing (co-dependency). Though I stayed away from opioids for fear of addiction, I used to mostly smoke weed & roll on MDMA, though I did try other drugs.

Yeah...so I smoked a lot in my early twenties during a certain phase/state of mind that lastet 2 years.
In the end when I tried edibles I got too high and it left me paranoid for a few days so I stopped.
I also tried MDMA once before going to a club and it made me really sweaty and dancy plus I loved the music and colors waay more.
But that's it...I thankfully never got addicted and I also usually don't drink/never been drunk (except for one time someone slipt something in my drink but that's a different story).

Smoked plenty of Weed during High School. Stopped using it about 6 years ago and I don't think I can pick it up again because of paranoia. Can't hold my liquor with drinking so I don't bother with the stuff, makes me throw up.

Are you talking about medication or just drugs?

I took many kinds of meds to see which ones fit. I'm still on meds. I have also tried some drugs and abused benzos a bit. I drank alcohol, tried weed and I guess caffeine is a drug too? Nothing too crazy unfortunately cause I don't have anyone to get it from. Alcohol makes me just feel dizzy because of the meds I take (antidepressant don't mix well) and weed is stinky

I loved LSD on occasion but prefer shrooms. LSD just feels a bit harsher to me for some reason. The trip also lasts much longer with LSD.
