I've bought a cremation only funeral policy but haven't yet made a will. Its exhausting preparing to die when you're unwell.

I'm working on my will. I gave up on it briefly but I really just want to get it done.

Yes-- reserved a space for my body in the Mausoleum, and I've had a Will in place for decades

Yes I have my will all good to go. If you ever want to make any changes or add to it you can as long as your still alive. You just have to make sure it is somewhere that can easily be found and honored or someone else knows about it if there is anyone else. It's common for people to plan ahead so I don't see it as weird to tell someone like another family member that this is my will if anything ever happens to me. I'm not having a funeral myself so that part was easy for me.

I had a day of clarity and a little fustration maybe a "episode" of sorts. But it was truth. I let my mom know honestly that I'm done. And I've been done for awhile. To not have a funeral for me just cremation. And to donate any of my things to those who need.
Not sure if this counts as its not on legal paper.
Good luck.

I need to work out life insurance and how to get the money to my loved ones. Don't care one bit how my body is dealt with afterwards.

Do you guys have official wills that are signed by witnesses or just handwritten wills? This is on my to do list but my energy is fading so fast lately I'm worried it wont get done. As for funeral, my family and I have differing opinions and since I will be gone I will let them do what they need to do to grieve. I'd like to see if theres a plot need other family members but again on the to do list and no energy or care.

A proper will is a relatively expensive and involved process, as lawyers don't come cheap. Anything less and it has little legal value. I ended up not bothering since I am confident that I can make a simple written request that my estate go towards my nieces/nephews and have that request respected by my family. The wellbeing of the next generation might be the one thing we can actually agree on.

I remember reading that cremations with no funeral can be relatively inexpensive ($5k or something?) so that is something I might do if an opportunity arises. Currently I'm trying to minimise mess by ensuring that there's no debt.

I just made it clear to my family that I want to be cremated after I have my organs donated.

As for my stuff, I want them to sell everything and make as much money as possible with them.

I made my wishes clear in a note, but I don't have enough assets for a legitimate will to make sense. I ended up getting a medical power of attorney made incase I fuck up an attempt and can't speak for myself, who knows what all will be honored. Most importantly, I made my mother the beneficiary on my bank account and hope to leave behind more than enough to take care of any expenses.

To be honest I've thought about it. I have no money so I'd assume the state would take my body. As it would be directly because of medical school I can't imagine a bigger disrespect then my body being used for medical students or research really. There's an even more frightening reality however. All or some of those that abandoned me in my time of need having a funeral and putting on crocodile tears. I'd prefer they celebrate. Least it would be in keeping with what they have done.

I guess if I prefer anything it'd be a mausoleum or buried as cremation terrifies me. If I am cremated thrown into a river or lake would be my ideal choice. I find water relaxing I could truly be at peace.

I've gave a handwritten will to a person some time ago and a handshake agreement with my mother that she will not interfere.

I don't have specific instructions for my body but cremation is what likely will be chosen and it's fine for me. Although it's horrible for the environment.

Yes. Preparing to die is exhausting.
I check the rules when I move because different places have different rules about wills, trusts and inheritance.

I haven't made any arrangements for my body. Your cremation-only policy sounds like a good idea.

Wishing you the best. Kudos for doing the work to figure it all out.

can i ask which country you live in (don't have to answer this if not comfortable disclosing), how straight-forward or difficult the process was and how much the policy costs (can answer in USD or GBP or whichever currency)? i've been thinking of doing this as well

I'm saddened that you're living in the UK and having had read your other thread, that the help u were awaiting for never came through. I've lived in the UK for a bit, and I knew their health services are a bit under-resourced and overwhelmed, but would have never expected an ambulance that was expected to arrive did not!

I hope you'll be ok, somewhat

I didn't buy plans, etc. I made my will 4 years ago, and has my best friend as my POA and executor. So I just left her a note, in it includes the username and password to my account. And it has more enough to pay for the funeral. Would that work?

Doing anything takes 10X the effort when you're depressed or unwell. Yeah, I managed to get both a prepaid cremation plan and my will drafted, but something (new) happened, and I have to get my will slightly revised, which I'll be doing shortly. Just have to spend more money. It is what it is.

No. I did put a DNR in my medical jacket and my doctor has told me she will honor it, no matter the situation. As far as a funeral... I don't care what is done with this avatar, nor how anyone remembers me. I did this shit to the best of my ability. That's all that matters to me.
