It's always people saying the same recycled, meaningless statements like 'oh it's permanent solution to temporary problem' , 'you just want to escape the pain not die' , 'if only you knew people care' etc.

But it's not that simple. It's not a temporary problem, it's many problems with myself some of which are lifelong. I don't want to escape any pain- I deserve to suffer until I die, I don't want to be happy, want my death to hurt too. It's not that I want to escape a feeling or situation, I just don't want to live at all. Nothing I want out to life. I know people care, yes some people will grieve me but at the same time, a huge burden is lifted.

To me those empty, hollow, pro-life platitudes are just insensitive and show a lack of awareness, I also cannot stand people who refuse to accept suicide as a valid and logical option, refusing to accept the fact that not everyone even wants to exist here.

I don't care at all about other's views on suicide. Why do so many people feel the need to justify themselves? Why does anyone care what the popular opinion on suicide is?

Yes, these simplistic (and oftenly glib, presumptuous, and arrogant) views on suicide are just really nauseating and annoying. I despise them quite a bit as well. They do get on my nerves quite a bit too and I just try to tune them out.

yeah I get where you're coming from. I just get frustrated with people saying these things to me and I can't argue back otherwise people will obviously be suspicious. I see what you mean though, no point getting frustrated really as everyone can have their own opinion, doesn't stop me doing it. I don't really care what people think when I'm dead though, people can say whatever they want.

Yeah I mean why would you want to argue back? Who cares? Just let them have their opinion.
If you die the rest of the universe dies with you. Doesn't really matter if you convinced anyone at that point. Understand that being suicidal is extremely fucking abnormal, most people find it difficult to internalize the concept of death at all let alone invite it upon themselves. That's why talking about death is one of the most taboo things to do in most cultures. People do not even want to think about it.

They just don't understand. How can they, when they've never felt that way? When they've never even thought about what it might be like to feel that way?

A lot of us probably can't understand how anyone feels like life is worth living either. And I don't mean people in good circumstances but that there are people in even worse circumstances who nonetheless feel like life is worth living. We might blame it on delusion or ignorance, but it's really not too dissimilar to how they might dismiss suicidal ideation negatively.

People simply, desperately cannot understand one another and often refuse to even try.

that makes sense. I guess it's less abut changing other people' opinions and more just about wishing people understood though? Like I think it's only human to need that connection. Partly why this site exists- people want to find people who understand what's it's like to be suicidal and respect freedom to choose. (I know not everyone comes here for that, obviously some people come purely for info and leave etc.)I don't need society to understand but it's comforting to have people who understand here in the time I have left.

I like that way of looking at it. I remember as young child when I first heard of suicide it was incomprehensible to me, I didn't understand how anyone could do it and thought anyone who does must have absolutely nothing and nobody left in life. Got a wake up call in my teens though.
