Method Has anyone tried synthesizing their own SN?

I went to school for science and have an OK grasp of chemistry and have been toying with the idea of synthesizing my own SN from sodium nitrAte which is easy to obtain. There's a few good youtube videos on how to do this, but before I buy glassware and blowtorches and reagents I wanted to know if anyone else had tried, and how it went. If you've tried to make your own SN, how difficult was it? What was the yield percentage? How pure could you get your SN? Would you use what you made to CTB?

I'm not sure where else to get SN tbh. DMC orders don't seem to ship reliably to the US anymore.

If one pulls of the synthesis, they are almost certainly smart enought to analize it or let it be analyzed. (Regular water analysis by a lab will show no3- to no2- ratio)

If you synthesize your own SN, you could always send a sample off to an independent lab for testing.

I received mine within 2 weeks after ordering at the end of February. It does seem hit or miss though.

To me that's not nearly enough. The SN protocols I've read suggest 25g SN in water with at least 2 backup cups of 25g SN in case of vomiting. I would need huge amounts of curing salt for that, at least 12kg going by your ratio. Processing this would take up much more space than reducing nitrate to nitrite.

I suspect that it would be much easier to produce concentrated carbon monoxide by heating sodium oxalate than convert nitrate to nitrite of a decent purity. When administered through inhalation from a plastic bag at very high concentrations (above 20k ppm), CO can render unconsciousness way faster than nitrite (10 - 15 seconds vs 10 - 15 minutes), and death would be nearly certain.
