The average person can easily survive for up to a month without food (given they are not severely underweight), and for over 3 days without water. The urge to drink water and it's extremely accessible availability make voluntary VSED basically impossible without medical supervision. There are actually a few ancient religious practices that are basically just VSED with a ceremonial facade, but they were almost exclusively done by the sick or elderly (VSED is much more easily accomplished by the elderly), and they had very high failure rates. Some buddhist sects practiced self-mummification (now illegal), and there are still regions in India where Jains practice a form of ritual VSED known as Sallekhana. If you attempt VSED without medical supervision, you will likely just end up with extreme nutrient defficiency and muscle atrophy. You will feel even worse than before. I would advise against it.
