they took this post I wrote in September



and put on the news article so only the first paragraph was displayed, and they accompanied it with some narrative about how the Biebers are being "harassed" by our site even though my post is taken completely out of context because if you read the second paragraph (which you can't because they filtered that out in the news article) you can see i'm not having a go at the parents at all. i've only ever defended the parents when people from our site have pointed fingers and said they're to blame.

also i thought the piano thing was a nice gesture so now i feel crap

But they can't risk making you look like a good person. They have to take things you say out of context and hide the good stuff because people like us will always be the villains in the eyes of those Pro-lifers. They don't want to listen to us or understand how we think, they just want to shut us down and lock us away so they can feel better about themselves.

I've been reading the abc27news page and found an article 16 hours ago but it doesn't name the forum. Claims the forum is using Shawn Shatto as a success story. Search Shawn Shatto and you can find it.

Having been reading this forum for a couple of weeks I knew nothing about her until this facebook group came up yesterday so this article clearly needs to get facts straight!

don't let them make you feel crappy. you tried something nice but they are too consumed in their grief to understand that. From a mother's point of view, imagine not knowing how bad your child felt, imagine knowing they turned to strangers for support rather than you. That's what's eating her - she couldn't support her daughter in her hour of need but a bunch of strangers could. it Doesn't make it right but it is a little understandable. Maybe as a forum we should open the door to her to provide support in her time of need, maybe point out that actually her daughter had a peaceful death at a time and place up and in a way she chose rather than some of the horrific ways that ctb can happen. In my book the forum does right by the people suffering and I speak from experience when I say that. One member has talked me out of a method that is possibly more dangerous and could have long lasting repercussions. I will intend to ctb but in a safe way and that's what this is all about. Just my two pence worth.

I mean technically the suicide was a 'success'. If we imply that the intended result of the act was death than she succeeded in accomplishing that. But I get that the people around her probably had other intentions and so calling it a success might come across as insensitive.

It was a success for her or the part of her that wanted to end her life and a failure for the people who wanted to 'save' her, who wanted her to live.

i agree, and i'm glad you're not doing the dangerous method any more. thank you for sharing. it's heartbreaking to even begin to imagine what those parents must've been through that day they found their daughter, i literally cannot comprehend how that must've been for them and seeing their pain has even made me question if i really want to ctb because i know i'd never want to put my family through any of that (i'm Shawn's age). i really do feel for Shawn's family, and always have done. one thing i must admit i resent though, is that the third parties that aren't necessarily grieving like the friends, the media etc. are running with this narrative; instead of helping them understand, they're egging the parents on in their pursuit of this forum. the parents are understandably too grief-stricken to hear us, but the media at least should be impartial to their version of events and recognise that we're not 'antagonists'

But that doesn't get the numbers / sell the papers etc. Shows how wonderful the media is.

On the first Saturday after the forum goes down. So that's 11,000 + lives that will be taken if they take down the forum. That will make the news!

I don't understand, it seems all the celebrities, football players and TV adverts say don't suffer in silence if your suffering from mental health talk to someone, well we are, maybe they should have been clearer on the subject we talk about, lol.

The internet didn't invent suicides there was just as many back in the good old days as there is now, unfortunately we are all different and we are on this site for different reasons but for the same goal, mental health is tough, life is to hard to handle, we are adults, we never had a choice coming into this world but we have a choice as adults when or if we want to leave it.

We know our loved ones and friends will be hurt and devastated by our actions, its not an easy decision believe me, but when the pain is unbearable and you just can't go on anymore, it's time to ctb, i'm sure there must be some comfort in knowing the final hour was a peaceful passing, rather than jumping of a building, jumping and traumatising a poor tube or train driver, check YouTube for suicides and you will see 90% was not on this site and they ended hanging themselves or a more gruesome death. .

While we are talking we are not dying take that away, you might as well hold a gun to our heads, we all have tons of different methods to ctb from other sources, the media loves to advertise suicides, you will be killing us.
