Discussion Has anyone dealt with suicidal thinking for decades/many years?

I've basically been depressed since my last year of school (83/84)
It got much worse in 1999 and has got much much worse since 2024

I'm now heading for insanity basically
There's nothing I can do to escape this

43 here. Had SI since 18 approximately. Was very bad the year I turned 30 and somewhat scary. Nowadays it's just a part of me and probably for the best.

I've been wanting to do it on and off since I was a teenager. I'm 38 now so roughly 20 some odd years of depression and suicidal thoughts. I rather just go to bed and not wake up considering Ill probably gonna use a gun soon. Im just tired and I don't even remember the last time I felt joy.

Hm, first time we can remember, we must've been somewhere between 6 and 8 years old, now we're 22. Had some breaks of uh, a few months but otherwise suicidal thoughts at least weekly, in response to specific events often, but currently more constantly and more at peace with them (as in, accepting we might die soon and just making preparations). - Lira
