Happy Christmas without CTB

Hey everyone, there are various Christmas threads but this is a bit different: For so many of us, Christmas time is really difficult and makes everything in us even worse. For me personally, Christmas has never lost its magic and I wish you all that - maybe the first time in years? - you find a way to somehow enjoy this special time. You know, Christmas always seems to be the holiday for happy families, happy souls, not for people like us. BUT THAT'S WRONG! IT IS EXACTLY FOR PEOPLE LIKE US! Baby Jesus wasn't born in a luxurious castle, he was born in poorest circumstances in the middle of the darkest night. Mary and Joseph were sent away from all hotels and hostels, nobody wanted them, it was cold and it was dark and they were all alone (until the angels came). And suddenly there was light, in the middle of night, a light of hope. Most of us are also alone and in a dark state. And I'm not saying that I have hope in general but maybe tonight we feel that Christmas is there for souls exactly like us. Happy Christmas everyone!

Christmas does not really mean anything to me, it is just another day of suffering. All the fake and forced happiness associated with it is annoying. I do know the holidays are particularly depressing for many people though. I wish you the best.

I wish you PEACE. Christmas is false, where families pretend to be nice to each other. The pretence is palpable. Most people dont consider the true meaning of Christmas. They just spend money and eat food. I dont recognise Christmas because I dont recognise Christian doctrine. The only prophet I understand is the January sales where Profit has a different tone.

Tbh I hate christmas. My family comes together the people who are the reason for my suffering, never finding a partner, living in poverty in the future.
Though this year was better than the last one. I have bought me some presents. Last year I had absolutely nothing to be happy about. It felt so bad.
I am happy about another thing. My family has an inside joke about my abuse/suffering. My mom abused me over a decade. Her partner, sometimes my grandma and my mother joke like "look it is always my fault" if things go wrong. They insinuate they I would always scapegoat my mom.
I get always extremely mad. She has a partner will never live in poverty. It is so unfair.
Today I endured the agony. 1 hour with my family. My mom always wants to buy me presents. I think she anticipates my poverty and this should say "I am sorry for that"
I could feel it they always were tempted to make the inside joke. Especially her partner.
Fuck them.
There are two ways how my life will develop. Either I ctb in the next years/decades or I Wait till my parents die. If I ctb they will have a lot of pain. If I Wait they will also struggle financially. So they they will struggle no matter what. However not in any sense as much as my horrible life.

Like many, I too am alone this Christmas, as I was on many that came before it. But it isn't hate, or anger or resentment that I feel ... just sadness. The deep sadness of grief and loss.

It is summer where I am. As I write these lines, I can hear people and kids laughing, joking, singing. In the houses on the street below my balcony. None of them knows that I am here. Crying quietly ... grateful for the tears I still have. Grateful to have known what it meant to be a human. Grateful for being able to truly wish everyone nothing but the best. Grateful for not letting aggressiveness of rampant consumerism, in all it incarnations, soil the heart of the story meant to bring hope to hopeless. Whether ones believe it or not.

I've heard this so many times it doesn't move me & I don't have a religious/spiritual bone in my body, but I understand your need for hope. Merry Xmas.

I was so surprised the first time I read this full quote. It's actually very poetic & touching:

I remember reading it in school ... more than 40 years ago now. 'The opium of the people' was a compulsory learning. Enforced by those that, for the most part, never read or understood the whole quote and its context. Throughout its history humanity has never ceased its search for 'the heart' ... replacing one type of 'opium' with another. Often in a bloodshed.
