Does anyone have experience hanging with a belt? I was thinking of shutting it in the top of a door and leaning down (a la Robin Williams) or nailing the belt to a tree and stepping off a chair. Tips for completing the suicide? Anyone have experience with hanging in general or more specifically by belt?

A couple of years ago I took the belt out of a robe and tied one end around a door knob. Then I put it over the top of the door and tied a noose in the other end. Once the door was shut it created a pretty solid setup.

I do. It seemed to work fine in my case, except I was still able to "untie" the belt when survival instinct kicked in... Which was unfortunate. I do not recommend it because a belt is more likely to snap due to one's weight than a rope and a rope isn't really something difficult to find and buy, so might as well play it safe.

What did you experience? Panic? Was it a complete loss of control?

I tried it once. You reach a point where you can tell you're about to pass out and when that happens it's easy for your survival instincts to kick in.

I'm no expert, but I think the goal is to cut off blood flow as opposed to constricting breathing. My guess would be the pressure isn't on the arteries so the blood isn't being cut off. It's the same principle as "the pass out game".

This method didnt really work for me unless the knot was on the left side and even then it didn't make me pass out in 15 seconds, It just made my head feel like it would explode which caused me to panic and stand up. I think it only works well if you have a really long skinny neck where the arteries would be exposed closer to the ligature
