there is no method with absolute certainty since you could conceivably survive both the gunshot to the head as well as the hanging - both are very easy to do improperly, you could be found prior to passing (especially when there is the use of a gun), etc.
Chris Kyle killed over 150 people, mostly with chest shots at over 300 yards. Guns are deadly. No need to be in a physical position that reduces your chance of success with a firearm.
Shooting yourself has about an 83% success rate in the u.s., with good knowledge of firearms you can get this well into the 90s but something could always go wrong- bad ammo, some kind of jam, who knows- it's not 100%. Full suspension hnaging is as close to 100% of a method as you will find if you are in a location you will not be found for a while- can you be completely certain no one will find you? Any location you can find could be found by someone else, but the more remote the less likely. Full suspension, done correctly in a locatino where no one is likely to find you is so close to 100%- why take the 15% chance of being in extreme agony from a failed gunshot attempt? If I had this situation I would do the full suspension only, and just make sure you do this as carefully as possible- not partial suspension, which has a high failure rate, and not long drop, which is only reliable when it is done by an executioner. That's what I would do in this situation.
