so I tried tying a noose around my neck with just using my hands to close the loop to see if I could put pressure on the caratoid artery and pass out, but my eyes and head felt a lot of pressure. Does this mean that was the jugular vein? Are the caratoid easier to reach by doing a real hanging?

When I almost succeeded at partial suspension my head felt like it was being compressed. I could also feel pressure in my eyes and I was seeing stars That shit was very uncomfortable.

I know by real hanging, it's easier to pass out quickly, and painless too...

I was young, didn't think of dying back then..
I feel like full is more successful than partial. But if you don't cut off the caratoids right, it can be more painful

I think the best way is not via a step ladder but an upturned bucket which you can kick away, that way there'll be no option left for survival instinct to kick in, and even if it did it you wouldn't be able do anything. By hanging via a short drop the process is theoretically quicker because the rope would tighten faster and constrict tighter, but it takes more courage to kick the stool or bucket as there's no turning back once it's kicked, and you'd be all too aware of that. The benefit is that it should be all over quicker. Though I haven't mentally prepared myself for that yet. Though what I do know is not to resist or struggle, as that would probably prolong the agony, yet I can't really see how not to unless your mind was completely calm. But I think for those of us who are thinking about full hanging then we have to realistically expect some pain and just endure it. Easier said than done, but intoxication can ease the anxiety and fear somewhat.

It's hard to say. I read horror stories of people trying full and ending up chewing their tongue off Bc of the pain

Yeah but rugby mouth shields would see to that. To be honest I fail to see any alternative, except perhaps jumping or SN, or the night night method, But by choosing the most common method, which is hanging, at least in the uk and possibly worldwide seems the most reasonable option. I'm sure it's the first method that comes into our minds as well and just kinds of sticks there. There's horror stories with every method, to be honest I think a lot are just scaremongering. Though I don't deny for one minute there is pain involved, just a question of how long it will last for.

Yeah, plus it works. We all know someone who died by hanging

There's a link here, just bear in mind the study was done between '73 and '82 when many barbiturates were more commonly available so self poisoning would have been easier. The first link is to a summary, but the second link is to the paper. I believe it's refering more to later attempts though, but it was the best I could find on how successful hanging was in comparison to other methods.

yeah-would be so so hard to remain calm and not struggle at all-I wasted a calming/ sedative pill on an attempt-and now have nothing! so annoying. alcohol on its own (to calm and reduce SI) doesnt seem to work at all for me!-maybe because i've always been quite a big drinker, esp, this year.
