I own a taurus pt738 handgun.
What are the chances of success rates how lethal it is to one shot inside the mouth?

I'm having a hard time finding information to break down location of entry wound by lethality, but that's what I'm doing. You can do it too :) Just be googling "suicidal gunshots .38" and such like that.

I can find lots of evidence that people have succeeded with that ammunition and its use is actually increasing. I just wanted to see if I could find anything on the best place to put it.

edit: I live in a possible fantasy where we can google stuff and police only look at it in retrospect, unless y'know the Chris Hansen stuff

Yeah, that anxiety makes sense to me. Maybe some more information will come up :)

Personally I wouldn't want to ctb with a .380 gun, less powerful/smaller exit wound than 9mm. If you're going to use a handgun, I would use .357 or .45 at minimum.
Yes correct a 380 caliber!
.38 & .380 are not identical calibers, .38 is significantly larger.

There is lots of variation in ammo penetration and expansion, so at least get the appropriate ammo (link below will show some tests done on different .380 ammo). Is there a reason you aren't able to purchase another gun?

I see you are a female. This may have to be my method down the line though I hate the idea. I also am scared shi$tless of it failing. The other problem....I don't know how to handle a gun. How did you learn?

It will be more than enough.
The only caliber I wouldn't recommend would be 22, but placed right by someone very familiar with guns that caliber is also deadly.

That's FMJ which should definitely penetrate, just wouldn't have much expansion so aim at the brain stem would be the key.
I suppose that's my biggest fear Is not knowing 100% that I'm aiming directly at the brain stem and it going wrong..

Not just the bullet, isostatic shock from the detonation of the bullet will melt the brainstem at that range, it's not something anyone is going to a survive.

Yes so a rifle 30.06 at 2900 feet per second would also melt the brain stem when aimed deep inside the mouth? Also for shotgun 12 gauge 1600 feet per second 00 buckshot?
