mine also arrived like that. It arrived a few months ago from Russia. The source is no longer available and questionable but I took a chance. I was fortunate that customs did not open my package. I live in Canada and it took nearly 3 weeks to arrive at the height of the summer Covid spike.

I got mine the other day and there was tape on the top. Maybe it is to keep the lid on.

Mine sounds like coarse salt, it's not solid at all.
