So lucky me,
I live in the US and was able to acquire a gun. I have been doing research and was told to get a gun with higher caliber. Like a .357 revolver or semi, but I was not able to get any of these. My choices were small. I got a 9mm semi. Will this work. I know I should use hollow point bullets to ensure a better outcome. Other than the optimal location to shoot and all other factors being accounted for, would a 9mm semi be enough? Can I use this gun and be successful? This is the model I have. It's a 9mm semi, Canik brand.

I don't know when I'll use it. I still have a lot to learn and to do before I die. I just want to make sure that it'll work.

It's the smallest caliber to use for ctb according to resource thread. I have a 9 and that's 98% possible what I'll use. I'm gonna use hollow points myself.

I really hope it works. I will do more research. If not, I'll just see where I can get a shotgun.

I'll probably end up using this one as well. As long as you use JHP then it should theoretically work.

I've been a fairly avid shooter for 40 years, and I would not want to try to ctb with a 9mm. It's just not a very strong round.
If you're dead set on it, though, definitely use hollow points, and practice aiming.

Naaahh, wouldn't you prefer KSG Keltec 12 ???

The autistic 4chan guy who filmed himself used that. His head was non existent after that..

Grenades are classified as a destructive device and must be registered with the ATF. To my knowledge there is a single pipe bomb registered as such in the US. There may be a few registered grenades. Illegal grenades undoubtably exist, but you will have an easier time finding a unicorn than legally acquiring a grenade in the US.

What would you use? What would you recommend for a (female) novice?

To be frank i think consensus is to get the largest caliber as possible and learn placement. placement is more important than your pistol or caliber of choice.

My personal CTB method.
Placed slightly at 15 degree angle in the mouth. Double action which will make the trigger pull smooth with little recoil.

You will not even hear the shot.

OP, your set up will be fine. 124 or 147 grain hollow points, placed in the mouth at a 15 degree angle.

Best of luck.

It really depends on where. Intra-oral? Not a good idea. Especially for flinching. In theory, you'll be gone before you even "hear" the bang. Not always, but usually.

I would use a .45, if I were going to use a semi-auto handgun. I think a 9mm will do, though. Study the diagrams and practice your aim. I'd hate if you survived in an even worse state than you're in now.

Thank you for informing me. I have no other option available to me. What else would work? Do 9mm not usually work? Thank you for your input.

Hey, thank you so so much for this. It really means a lot that you responded. You've brought me peace and a little more will to live!

Thank you. All I have is a 9mm and I will be practicing and practicing.
I volunteer as a target.
Ohh man, I would too. I would kill for someone to kill me right behind the head.
Thats my current mood, handgrenade in mouth lol

So would this work if I place it inside my mouth?
