Great films I've seen about this: Melancholia, The Hours, Jackie, and Christine (2016).

Anyone have any good suggestions similar to the ones above? For some reason, I find films about this topic to be really comforting and warm and cozy, because in my real life I find that I have no one to share my deepest troubles with. It's really consoling to see someone go through what I go through on a daily basis.

Christine was very good.

'Night Mother with Sissy Spacek as the daughter who is going to commit suicide and tries to explain to her mother, played by Anne Bancroft, why she is ending her life in order to spare her mother any sense of guilt or anguish.

I like Girl, Interrupted and Taxi Driver. Those movies make me feel a little bit better when down at my lowest.

Leaving Las Vegas. Movie is one of the most heartbreaking films ever.

Oh, although it's not about depression or suicide, I also recommend The Elephant Man. Guaranteed to cry at least once during the film.

It's a series rather than a movie, but Mr. Robot might be worth checking out if you haven't already. Certainly has that "cozy" feeling that you speak of at times and portrays depression et al very well. The wretched find companions in misery, and all that.

I will list some dealing with suicide, depression or all around "dysfunctional" characters. A little bit more than you asked for. Some items in this list may offend or trigger someone as some deal with some deep emotional topics. If you have triggers, ignore the list.

Everything is Illuminated 2005, Transamerica 2005, Dedication 2007, XXY 2007, Tyrannosaur 2011, Choke 2008, Mozart and the Whale 2005, The Woodsman 2004, L.I.E. 2001, Ratcatcher 1999 and that should be a good starting point. Make sure to read my warning again!

"I'm thinking of ending things" on Netflix.
You've got to watch this one. You'll probably need to watch it twice to fully understand its message. But damn it's so worth it.
