Due to the multiple failure posts and the fact that I can't seem to find if nitrate also turns blood brown, I am going to purchase some nitrate and perform a blood test. I am theorizing that it may also yield similar results to nitrite as both nitrite and nitrate cause methemoglobinemia. I'll post what I find in the thread later on— it's a good idea to have one more safeguard to be sure that the SN we are getting is fresh AND the product that it's touted to be.
Might as well rule out any reason why failures are rising.

According to Wikipedia, the LD50 3236 mg/kg. That's for nitrAte to kill 50% of the population- let's double that and make it 100% So say the average person is 70kg. So 3236 x 2 x 70 = 453,040. So it would take 453 grams of sodium nitrAte to kill the average person

Hi, that's good to know! I know nitrate isn't lethal in SN doses and don't tout it as an alternative. I'm just double checking to make sure the blood test works for SN and SN alone.

Hi, sorry for the delay. I have been in deep financial trouble, but I am still intent on doing lots of tests to compare SN and Nitrate (no ingestion obviously.) Please bear with me, I haven't abandoned the idea.

Definitely a good idea doing the Nitrite blood test with Nitrate. Honestly I don't think someone who's in financial trouble should bare that burden and should be someone else. (I wish I could offer to help, but I'd be terrible at drawing out my own blood and end up not doing the test properly or screwing up my body in someway while trying to draw out my own blood.) The community and I will appreciate it so hopefully future people will more easily be able to tell Nitrite and Nitrate apart from one another.

Maybe the interesting aspect of this old thread is this: three months later, still no conclusive test performed...

Didn't one person recently do the blood test, have the stuff pass that test and still turn out to be nitrate? New here, but it seems nitrate will turn blood brown as well.

@LookAway I think I read yesterday that you commented that a person had done a blood test with nitrate and it turned brown, right?
