Man, I really hate being out in society. Everywhere I go there's some rude person getting in my face about something or subtly mistreating me in a passive aggressive way.

Today I only left the house for an hour and I was at the store, when some crazy bish comes flying backwards out of a parking spot and almost hits me. She actually rolls down her window and is like "really sir?" I mean what? You almost ran me over you nut job. Then I go pick up a pizza and they just leave me standing there at the front desk while they're on the phone and taking their time with a million other things as my food sits there getting cold on the counter.

I feel like the US is becoming a really disorderly, low trust society where everyone has different norms and values. There's no concensus on what constitutes good behavior and people seem to love taking their frustrations out on everyone else. I almost always feel worse for leaving the house, even for leisurely things or simple errands.

I'm over it. I'm staying indoors forever from now on. By which I mean like two days.

I feel you. I live in France and since covid crisis, people are not the same anymore. But all the world is collapsing and people are crazy. That's one of the reasons I want to ctb. I don't fit in this 2025 world

I was the one who almost hit someone today in a parking lot because I'm a space case and wasn't paying attention. However, I did give an apologetic wave as they flipped me off. I have manners!

But yes, I feel like things are different than they were, say, 15-20 years ago. Is the smart phones? Are we all less connected? Idk.

I am in germany but understand very good what you have experienced. I have it often worse and people laugh, or stare aggresively and disgusted or they take pictures of me.

After I was caged and abused sep. 2024 in asylum in germany, I stayed inside as I was back in my room. So since sep. 2024 I am inside my room. I use delivery to get my food and stuff and survived from welfare 5 years they have cut me off now. So I don't know when but I need to go away from this room, I cannot afford it without any income. I become homeless and I know that there aren't real services for women in my situation. They target women like me who have nobody, no access to help, otherwise I would have a care service and disability income and help with getting legal assissted suicide. But I am just sabotaged by social workers too, and left alone to die/starve. One middle-class social worker who has a great family, friends, children and is social accepted said I should do everything alone. She gossiped about me, was passive aggressive and I assume she is the reason that I am now cut off from welfare. These middle-class bches who make the decisions here know each other ofc. I need to go,
maybe Rheinland Pfalz would be better because many people there voted more liberal-left and I am in a state where many voted right-liberal.

The general lack of social concern is really worrying to me. It's not something I often hear talked about, but there's no real desire to be decent to your fellow human. Don't get me wrong, we have it on a very surface level, but it's social media based, and totally performative. It's about being seen to do good - never mind the fact that underneath it all, we're all as rotten as ever (maybe even moreso these days). But to me, it's about what you do when no one's looking. I don't care for FB or X or IG. But I do care that people are acting out their irritations, prejudices, bad days etc on others in real life. And I think that's worse than it's ever been.

I have to say, as bored as I am with my music, movies and video games, I still find it safer to live that insular life and only expose myself to all the shit that's out there on an as-needed basis.

The more atomized societies get the worse this will be. The bigger the city the worse it is too. I've lived in a huge range of sizes of human settlements and yeh, when someone doesn't think they're ever gonna see you again, what's the biological drive to not be a shithead to you?
The connection between action and consequence in interpersonal interactions is ever-shrinking; there are innumerable forces behind the exponential rise in this phenomenon but the vast majority of them are some kind of bullshit (corporate) or other.

it isnt just you. society in general is getting worse; more mean and aggressive. not to mention how paranoid everyone is, too. like, the other day i saw someone say they hosted an event to meet their neighbors and baked cookies and nobody showed up. i check the replies, and people are grilling this woman because they…dont trust a neighbors cookies?? sorry but how paranoid do you have to be???? so yeah, dont feel too bad because everyone is getting worse.
