According to most Christians, of course God will send you to hell for committing suicide.

But not just that, you aren't saved if you're depressed according to them. Now submitting to God out of fear is a no no to, to save your ass. Because you need to "love" God with all your heart.

And God wants a "loving" relationship. You go to hell too if you worship God out of fear basically.

But if you try to love God, and try to be happy big fail, you aren't saved either they say.

You need to be cheery, happy, grateful, obidient, never angry, etc.

That's a sign of bering saved they say. Now they say Christians aren't perfect, but at the same time they say forgiveness isn't a license to sin, and "true" Christians behave a certain way.

Salvation has no conditions, but at the same time it does have many many conditions.

Also if you have any sexual desires outside of marriage you aren't saved either basically. Oh and in marriage only missionary sex is acceptable of course.

Also many protestant Christians atleast online said to me if I just turn to God, submit to him fully, everything will become fine in my life. And I will be "cured".

Seems to me you can never win with their version of God right? So many conditions.

But somehow they themselves present themselves as holy little angels.

And I'm the horrible wicked sinner.

My experience with religion has been incredibly hateful. You can't ever win because people will twist rules to fit their own agenda and impose fear onto others. I forget what the original message of some religions even are because people have modified it so much.

I'm not religious myself, but if god was real (speaking specifically about the christian god), I'd be going to hell for a lot of other things before suicide becomes a concern.

For example, I am LGBTQ+, I love eating shrimp (because that's a bad thing apparently), I wear clothes with mixed fabrics, I have had pre-marital intercourse, I watch porn, etc. — you get the idea.

A lot of things that people in the modern age consider normal are pretty much prohibited by religion if taken seriously, and many others would be in the same boat as me: going to hell before suicide as an issue if any of it were real

They can say whatever they want, it doesn't make it true. If that makes them happy, good for them. They shouldn't impose it on others.

In any abrahamic religion, you go to hell for CTB'Ing

The reasoning behind this is because one would go to hell for harming any of God's most prized creation without repenting. If one CTB, then how the hell (get it) is one going to repent for killing oneself if they are dead.

Sorry if it doesn't make any sense. Christianity has been twisted throughout the years, nothing in the church makes sense. Honestly, if you are interested in talking to a Christian about their theological beliefs, talk to a Methodist Preist. In my experience, they are less bigoted than the rest.

no one is going to read this anyways:pfff:

To me, the entire idea of religion and a god is bizarre. It just doesn't make any sense to me. It seems to me if their was a god, all they would have to do is make themselves known by coming here and EVERYONE of mankind would by an instant believer. Why play games? Isn't that what he wants anyway, to believe in him? He/she could accomplish just that by showing themselves. Even the most dastardly people would instantly change their ways if absolute proof were shown.

One thing I never understood is if satan wants you to sin and you do so and get sent to hell by god, why would you get tortured by satan? You did what he wanted so wouldn't it be more likely you would be given a high five or something? Also, murder is a sin but god just says "fuck it" I'm going to drown every animal except for two of each (we all know inbreeding is no big deal lol)
I couldn't find logic in it so I stopped believing. It's the scientific method or nothing.

Who knows what this universe is truly.
In my belief, god, heaven, and hell exist only here on earth. In death, there is nothing. The literal understanding of the story keeps the truth at bay; It's the meaning behind the story that matters.

If anyone uses the phrase, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, do we ask, what kind of bird or what bush are we talking about? No, we see there's a meaning behind it, a truth even.

There are Christians who, in their own error, exude a pompous, holier than thou attitude but then there are non-believers who would never make you feel bad for who you are; which one is right or wrong, is it so black and white?

Please don't take this as preaching, because I have never truly been a believer and have many many times sought my own destruction as I've never learned to seek peace or accept my place in life and it's made me miserable. It's only the destractions and dopamine that ever kept me going.

Struggle we must, till we turn to dust.

Religion is just another way that people try to regain control over others by indoctrinating them with ideas, it holds no power when you leave this earth. From what I learned by looking at ndes people often entrap themselves in their own hell because they burned it in their subconscious that it exists which isn't true. Nothing of this world holds any real substance when you depart but your consciousness so if you want to ingrain that ideology into it then hey…but personally I don't feel as thought it is real unless you make it real.

I'm so sorry for the pain you've experienced in this life. I know it must take a lot to be driven to such anger.

It can be hard to imagine, but we should understand that God doesn't cause or create suffering. He allows it to occur at times, but our limited perspective prevents us from understanding how our suffering is contributing to the larger story of His plan. He sees all of space and time unfolded in one present moment, so what seems like suffering to us is really a beautiful story of triumph and resilience to Him, simply because He's able to see how it all ends.

It's important to remember this: God became man and entered into our world as Jesus of Nazareth. He came here not only to introduce Himself and teach us how to live fulfilling and joyful lives, but also to suffer on our behalf. God himself came to die for us, to show us that He is not above us but beside us. There is no suffering He will put you through that is worse than what he went through in his life as Jesus. Sure, many people were crucified, but the death of Jesus is much deeper than mere crucifixion. For one, He knew His entire life what His fate would be, but continued His ministry without fear. He was betrayed by one of His closest friends Judas, again knowing all along he would do so. He felt the pain of all of humanity's sins with each nail that hammered his limbs to the cross. The weight of all our suffering was lifted by Christ onto the cross, and we should remember that when we feel that God is punishing us.

Go to the cross and offer your suffering to Jesus. He will take it from you, and he will make you feel like you can love again.

Stay strong my friend, for you are dearly loved.

That's not true at all! Suffering is necessary for good. That's why he allows it to exist in the first place.

What are some good characteristic traits? Forgiveness, patience, courage, strength, generosity, etc.

- Take "forgiveness" for example. Without betrayal, who would we forgive? It is the suffering of betrayal that creates the virtue of forgiveness.
- Take "patience" for example. Without the frustrations of dealing with others, nobody could be called patient. Anger creates opportunity for patience.
- Take "courage" for example. Without the risk of danger and fear, how could anyone ever be courageous? Fear is necessary for courage.
- Take "strength" for example. Without any pain to endure or overcome, how could we ever call anyone strong? Pain is the obstacle that creates strength.
- Take "generosity" for example. Without any poverty or needs in life, how could anyone ever be generous? Poverty is cause of charity.

Hopefully you can see that it's through our suffering that we become better Humans. Without it, we'd be stagnant our whole lives, just little bags of meat waiting to die and decompose. Suffering gives us challenges to overcome and allows us to better appreciate the moments in our lives with less or none of it. It's the darkness that allows us to appreciate the light, and sour that helps us appreciate the sweet. It's a common misunderstanding that God wouldn't have created suffering, but once you think about it, we should meditate on the underlying beauty behind its presence in this world.

Much love!

In my church we were tought that you gotta let god into your life and try being a good person and ask jesus for forgiveness of your sins (while stopping to purposefully commiting them ofc) is all it takes to get into heaven.

I don't think that's the right way to look at it. Maybe God put you in that situation, but nobody is inevitably driven to any conclusion. We always have the choice to love and forgive others (and ourselves) rather than hate and begrudge. Sometimes abuse or betrayal in our lives feels too severe to forgive, but God still asks us to. If you share your suffering with Christ enough so that the weight is lifted off your heart, you can actually grow stronger from it and appreciate a new beauty to life.

C.S. Lewis famously described Hell as being "locked from the inside", and his books Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce are all about how we constantly choose to sin rather than to love God, ultimately sending ourselves to Hell. It's not God punishing us. It's our own stupid selfishness constantly pursuing empty dopamine rushes instead of true joy that leads us away from God and finally ending in eternal separation from Him. Imagine Hell as a place where nothing good or beautiful exists. If you don't want to be there, then start now by pursuing what is good and beautiful.

Much love, friend. I'm always here for you :)

Didnt read anything after the "suffering is necessary for good" part. If god is all powerful, when he created the universe and its laws he could have easily made it possible for good to exist without bad… simple as that. Yes, logically speaking, bad is needed to experience good, but youre forgetting that the laws of the universe and logic that make that so were created by god if he exists… If god exists, then him not doing that displays one of two things, god is either not powerful enough to change the laws and logic of the universe, or he wants us to suffer. As soon as you read the bible/ think about religion and god with the idea that god is supposedly all powerful and all knowing in the back of your head is when youll realize how goofy it all starts to sound. If god was truly good and all powerful, everyone would live in cotton candy land where every day is like a heroin high and nothing bad ever happens.

I hope you choose to read my response this time. I think I'm presenting a clear case for why the existence of suffering adds to the beauty to our world rather than subtracts from it.

God did not create logic, but He is logic itself. Our ability to use reason comes from Him. Of course God could change the fundamental laws of physics because they are created by him, but 2+2 will always equal 4, no matter what the universe looks like. God cannot change facts about himself.

Logically, happiness cannot exist without suffering. So, if we lived in "cotton candy land", we may be comfortable, but we would never be truly happy because happiness is relative. People living in poverty who have never experienced the luxuries of developed society can be relatively happy with clean water and food, blissfully ignorant of much of what you could call "suffering'.

Pick any of your favorite movies. Mine is Balto, the story of an Alaskan sled dog who led a team of dogs to deliver medicine through a snow storm to dozens of infected children nearing their demise. The beauty in that story is partially from the fact that the children were suffering and in urgent need of assistance, and that a dog and his owner endured the brutal weather to rescue them. I don't see any beauty in a life in without danger, pain, and suffering, because that life has no courage, strength, and heroism.

So if god cant change logic (ex: making 1+1 =3 true) then hes not all powerful and the bible is lying lol. All powerful means all powerful… no exceptions. If hes truly all powerful, he could make it so happiness and joy are completely independent of anything else. Very simple concept.

God cannot contradict reason because he IS REASON. He did not create reason, so he can't change it. All-powerful does not mean he can do literally anything you want. God cannot create a married bachelor, because it is a contradiction in terms. He cannot create liquid solids for the same reason.

He is all powerful because he is the creator of the universe and rules over everything inside of it. He has complete control and is able to perform miracles that go against the laws of physics. He cannot perform miracles that go against the laws of mathematics and logic because he did not create those. I feel like this is a simple concept.

He created a world with suffering so we could experience real Joy. If you are anti-joy, then you should retrace your steps to find out where your philosophy went so sideways. Most people, happy or not, would prefer joy over mind-numbing heroin addiction.
