  • Hey Guest,

    Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

    This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

    In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Now in the wake of a bus catching dawn…. I was wondering; what would be the best way to deal with savings, assets? Sometimes fantasizing to spend it all hedonistically abroad until it's burned than check out… but that's sort of not me… donations? Any thoughts?

Donating it to a cause you support seems pretty cool. And can you do it so it's part of your last will? I don't know if your country would allow it, but it seems ideal, so, if you fail, you don't become homeless.

Bang

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself from thinking of different interpretations and creating this image. There are so many ways to "go out with a bang." Like head banging too hard at a concert or peace out with some stylish bangs. :D

I don't know why you consider taking your life but I think throwing money at your problems is always worth a try. Your post also reminds me of the post quoted below. This is not to say that you should travel but that you can spend your money on things that bring you joy. This is not limited to spending money on yourself because some people find joy in giving to others and seeing a smile on their faces.

I read about someone planning to commit suicide and having the means. But before taking his life, he wanted to experience certain drugs because he doesn't have to worry about the negative health risks drugs poses anyway. So he traveled to a foreign country where drugs is more accessibly and went on a bender. Lo and behold, after a week of drugs, he realized that he doesn't want to die after all. So he went back home after his bender.

I read this on the internet so take it with a grain of salt when it comes to whether it really happened (probably not). But I don't think this detracts from its message which is to do whatever the hell it is you want to do* if you'll commit suicide soon after anyway. Either you'll end your life on a good note (which is the adventure) or you'll gain a new perspective on life. I see it as a win-win. Of course, you'll need the means [money] to do what it is you want to do*. And if you're not confident in wishing to end your life then prepare a way to return to your normal life in case you end up stranded in a foreign country.

* I don't recommend breaking the law.

I'm going to be meeting with a lawyer for this exact reason. Some is going to animal rescue, some to specific friends who could really use a boost. Some to family but they really don't need much. Thinking about that is something that actually feels good about this whole process.

I was expecting this thread to be something else entirely.

Indulgence and charity are both great options. If you go for the donation route, I'd recommend leaving it on your will instead of donating it before the fact - you don't want to back yourself into a corner by disposing of your money.

Thanks for your reply… through anxiety i lost my creativity somewhat in coming up with ideas on my own i guess… like writing 'a will'…
