I can't end it. Too much of a pussy. I do not want to participate in society either, it's all a fake shit.
I am thinking about becoming homeless. But I am afraid of all it can happen, abuse etc.. I am thin and short, without much strength, anyone could easily abuse me.
Can anyone share any tips? Also, what would be the best place for it? I have some savings and I can travel anywhere. Some beach in SE Asia maybe?
I just want to give up.

Why would you want to become homeless? It is painful experience. You can't truly appreciate how cold and hungry you can get until you have experienced it. It is pretty violent too. Fancy yobs pissing on you? Exposure to sickness you can't just curl up in a comfy bed and get rid of? What is often not talked about is chronic boredom that accompanies it. If you have a romanticised notion of being free of societies shackles you will find your more likely to be shackled by being criminalised for just existing. I still get nightmares, and some of those nightmares are the fear I am homeless again! I really don't recommend it.

You dont want to become homeless. Its the worst thing anyone could possibly face.I was homeless for a week and I had never felt so happy when I got my home back. The warm bed .The privacy. You only truely appreciate something once you lose it. Dont do that. I had never felt so vulnerable until that week of homelessness. To me , my home is like my small bubble. Somewhere I can exclude myself from this scary world and feel safe. But , homelessnes means you will be constantly exposed to the world. You will basically be living in a home with no walls , no food , no windows , no rooms, no privacy and no shelter from world. Dont do it.

If you thought your inner world sucked, being homeless exposes you to the dregs of society and therefore everyone hates you or thinks you're lazy. You gotta worry about teenagers roving for a quick fight, other homeless people beating you up or stealing your stuff, can't run to the cops since they don't give a crap about ya, cold hungry nights, hot bug-ridden nights, food is hard to come by, etc. The only thing is that homeless brings is being killed as a part of your CTB plans.

Look up "voluntary homelessness".

I found this idea appealing many many years ago. But, I realized i don't have the personality or internal fortitude to pull it off.

Since homelessness sucks, and society sucks, this is the only other option I know of besides suicide: http://www.moneylessmanifesto.org/
It can only work if you're not a misanthrope though, so it's not a realistic option for me.

Do not do that. It's better to slave away at a job you hate than to be homeless. I was homeless for a year once. I slept outside in the rain and winter. It is not fun.

I would ctb to be honest. You have to do it.
I know, but I'm too much of a coward. I'm a piece of shit.
Maybe with time I can build up the courage, I don't know. In life, I went from the fear of death to accepting death to craving death. Maybe I will advance to the next level: courage to ctb.

It would be cool if there was like some place for people to go where you could just check out and live out your days minimally but still had shelter, food, drugs, and the bare minimum basics. No extravagant life but where u could just put in like a few hours of work tops a day. Rest of the day is all yours. You worked maybe 20 hours a week tops doing something that involves helping out the place you live at or the other unfortunate people who also checked into the minimalist effort area lol! No not jail, just a place where it's compassionate, and not a ton of shit is required from u just to live with some level of dignity. If you got sick of being a subpar participant of life you could always go back in to the rat race if u wanted to.

I'm certain there are many communes around the world, I had a look a few times.
One here in Scotland is Findhorn.

I mean it is your life. There are actually alot of people who are voluntarily homeless so you can do it. Homeless shelters, parks, woods, library, etc. There are alot of resources for the homeless so you can make it easier on yourself. It's just that in my opinion i would rather ctb than be homeless. Eventually you would get old and being a old man while homeless is going to suck. But if this is what you feel is best for you then go ahead.

The van idea appealed to me but I don't know if I could pull it off as a woman. I would definitely want to live in a year round pleasant weather area if I chose to do this. I envy those people on YouTube who live in their van or RV. Looks so fun. The challenge of it looks fun.

I have lived in a van, lucky I was with my partner, ppl look at u like u r trash and they will kidnap you. In us, you can sleep at the rest areas over night to not get hasstled and they have toilets and water, recommend this with van. Make sure u have money for hotel if u break down. Get a van you can use for deliveries for work

I think that's the goal of some intentional communities...however, things seem to often go awry with all humanity's flaws. Cults, brainwashing, enslavement...all are potential cons. I've looked into some online, and am curious as to what they are actually like on a day to day basis.

On a side note, Wanderlust is an entertaining comedy that deals a lot with the daily grind in NYC versus life in a "unique" community that is communal.

I've seen a few inspiring stories of women doing this on their own. I wish I could remember names. If I run across any again, I'll post it here. The more options the better! :)

Yeah I don't recommend being homeless at all. What I did (while it isn't the same as chronically homeless, it still something to maybe relate to) was I took a bus to another city and spent the entire day (until past midnight) not having anywhere to sleep, or rest. There was little or no privacy, was tired and exhausted during the day, my legs ached after a lot of walking, it just overall sucks.

Anyways, I think if I was long term homeless, I'd ctb instead of living through the torment, the elements, the harassment, and overall starvation (unless I was planning to die of starvation, which I wouldn't since hypothermia is a better option than starvation and dehydration).

If you are considering being homeless then I would at least invest in having a mode of transportation like a van or a car.

I have lived in a van, lucky I was with my partner, ppl look at u like u r trash and they will kidnap you. In us, you can sleep at the rest areas over night to not get hasstled and they have toilets and water, recommend this with van. Make sure u have money for hotel if u break down. I wonder if one could still be somewhat comfortable while in a car? I know one cannot fit as many things in a car as a van, let alone a mattress, but what about like sleeping in the back or something? I'm fairly tall and while I know I don't have enough space to really be as comfortable as a real bed, I'm sure there is a way to still be comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep?

Homelessness is a shitty way to live. I think you'll regret it and have a hard time clawing your way back to not be homeless.
But if you choose it, you may want to consider learning all about:

  • dumpster diving
  • free places you can be in your area, like the library
  • gym memberships. they can be really cheap depending on what's available. a place to stay for a bit, shower, work out to fight the boredom of having nothing to do, watch tv, etc.
  • van dwelling/living in a car. this is better than living on the street, since you'll be better protected from the elements. also being able to lock others out will probably prove useful.
  • what laws are in place that criminalize the poor in your area? you will probably have to come face to face with the police.
  • what are the laws regarding weapons? can you carry a gun? what size knife can you legally own? protection is going to be important as you're surrounded by people who didn't want to be homeless and are desperate for any way to survive.

Good luck.

Local community centers and homeless day "drop-in" centers where you can do laundry and get help with a few small, but critical things. Search for grass roots local homeless outreach groups so you know who is safe before the vultures start circling overheard. No matter how bad things get, no matter how little you may think you have, there will always be people willing to pray upon you.

"Freegan" is also a term you may want to familiarize yourself with. Take care.

And whatever you do, do not get suckered into staying with a religious outreach homeless center, unless you're devoted to God or something, but they'll make you listen to sermons all day and then feed you. They'll also make sure to remind you that your predicament is God's Plan to save you from Hell.

How did you make it out of homelessness? I'm afraid I'm facing that soon, and know I don't have what it takes.

I wish I had some positive story for you. It was sheer dumb luck that got me out of it. I encountered a somewhat distant aunt. She recognised me, we talked about my abusive stepfather and what he was doing to my mother and why I left. She then took me in, emptied out an annex of her house and I moved into there for several years. She got me mental health support as well. As once I had a place I developed the most intense agoraphobia and social anxiety. Took many years to overcome it. Bipolar further hampered efforts but I did secure a life and fulfilling career for myself in the end.

Homelessness is something I fear more than death. Especially now that I am sick. My government is also very punitive towards the disabled and unemployed. Convinced work cures every ailment going. So much so I am sure they would think nothing of replacing hospitals with workhouses as a tonic to the prevalence of shirkers, making excuses about drowning in lung fluid... The threat of homelessness is a core driver of my own push towards ctb. I can't do it again. Even the terminally ill are not spared such a fate in this shit hole country.

I think some of my guttural hard to hide hatred of religion comes from similar experiences. Charity wielded like a weapon of shame when already at your lowest! I have lost all tolerance these days. My only faith is in the wonders of science.
