The reason why I stopped: It's one moment of satisfaction for years of scars. It's such a hassle to make sure they're covered every time you get dressed. I can't wear tank tops or short shorts in public anymore.

I have visible scars on my arm. They are years old at this point, and have faded as much as they are going to. I very much regret giving into the desire to cut myself. When I'm not wearing long sleeves they serve only as a daily reminder of the pain I was, and honestly still am, going through.

it's been a week since i accidentally hit the fat layer while cutting. i didn't want to cut anymore or hit the fat layer ever again, but at the same time i can't stop fantasizing about making deep cuts like that all over both my arms and bandaging them up laterInfection
Having to go to the hospital for stitches if you go too deep (happened to me, it's uncomfortable and then you get sent to a ward involuntarily which depending on your state can take away some of your rights like the right to a firearm)
Not being able to go swimming in public without being stared at
Young children will make comments about your scars asking what happened (also happened to me, it's hard to think of a believable lie)
Nerve damage
Can make symptoms of mental illness worse
Getting addicted to it
Scars of deeper cuts will basically never go awaySimilar threads
