Just got ghosted by yet another online friend I met on Reddit. We were bonding over our abusive exes and I even tried to offer substantial advice about how to cope and all of a sudden I'm unfollowed on Instagram. Like why do people do this?? seriously, why even chat with me in the first place if you don't want me in your life?? I can't even blame people for offing themselves at this point. People are rotten and we have to share a fucking planet with them to the point of exhaustion.

Thank you, I'm not worried, just exhausted from people like this. We were both going through a difficult breakup from our exes who abused us and I tried to bond with them on how to overcome these feelings of shame, guilt, etc. and they just unfollowed me out of the blue. :/

I have no experience so it's hard for me to relate. I feel sorry for you that you come across such assholes. no one deserves to be treated like that and to break off contact without a word. maybe they are not ready for someone like you, maybe they were just scared, or maybe they are just usual freaks and it is good that they left. if they are like that, it is good that it turns out sooner rather than later :)

I understand that so well...5 years I've been trying to make friends through several different means and people just end up ghosting. The last time was a girl with whom I had a lot in common, both in the same sort of field, we had been talking for some weeks now and I gathered the courage and invited her and her boyfriend to go with me and my boyfriend to a pub that had darts and other fun games. The minimum group size was 4 so it was perfect. I told her the price so we could split the cost. She said she was very excited for it. Then the date approached and she wouldn't reply to my messages, just radio silence.

My boyfriend and I were heartbroken as we can't experience those games if we don't bring along 2 other people and she gave us hope for no reason. I gave her a piece of my mind on the next day and blocked her. I don't understand why she said she was so excited and then just ignores me when the date approaches? Why give me false hope?

I even told her at the start that I have no patience nor heart for fakeness, that I'm looking for a real friend, that I'm severely depressed and can't handle more disappointment. She said she understood completely and also depressed and blah blah blah. So much for understanding, people are such dicks...

I'm sorry you suffered through that. It is not as easy as just ignoring when it keeps happening time and time again. You start to question your own sanity. Am I the problem? Why does this always happen to me? Etc. People are so cruel.

He just wanted to vent his problems on you and when he felt better with himself he wanted to get rid of you because you "weren't of use to him".
Met so many of those people online, really scummy behaviour, you could just write "Look i appreciated everything we talked about but i need to move on in life so i can't talk to you anymore" or some generic excuse, but they dont even have the balls to say that...

Exactly, like this has happened to me so many times to the point that I'm losing my own damn mind over here, At some point I think I would prefer for people to just block me straight away than leading me on for such a long period of time. We had a heartfelt conversation about how to cope with moving on and I tried to keep in touch but they just unfollowed me everywhere. This keeps happening over and over again and I'm sick of it. Everyone I talk to discusses their long online friendships that lasted for years and I can't seem to find anyone that's even remotely close to that sort of friendship. No matter how similar we are in terms of interests, ethnicity, hobbies, people still do not care so Idk why I bother to continue to exist when this is all I will ever encounter in this lifetime.

Sorry to hear about your experience, people are so damn fake it's ridiculous, we live in a world full of snakes in every corner it seems. :(

They said they wanted to hangout with me at some point after I told them my ex canceled our trip to Greece last minute. Idk what their goal was but yeah everyone treats me like their personal therapist and then abandons me when I'm no longer needed in their life.

I suggest everyone disengage with the inflammatory person here and if anything, like name calling, etc occurs, report them.

ETA: Pretty sure they got banned. Multiple inflammatory responses across other threads plus name calling.

It's okay, I am actually used to trolls. (happens alot) I already blocked the individual so hopefully there will be less spam comments. I don't seem to understand the issue though, it's a suicide forum, are we not allowed to talk about what's driving us to lose hope in humanity? If I wrote about my tendencies to disappear one day, it'd just get removed on another website of some sort. But thank you for reporting them, it's already bad enough that we're all suffering. Shitty people exist unfortunately, and the only thing we can do is not give them any attention.

Agree, the world itself isn't black and white, there will be a point where we need to express ourselves somehow. I don't mind being criticized, but I would prefer it in a way that's less... hostile perhaps? But I guess everyone has a different way of approaching things when it comes to venting.

Yeah, I've heard of that one popular video floating around Youtube, so it was only a matter of time that it would garner a lot of negative attention from trolls. I don't take it personally though, since they're only brave enough behind a screen.
