  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I'm happy for those people who do recover but it simply isn't possible for all of us, and most people don't realize that. Sometimes there really is no escape.

It's funny you calling it a joke when most of us probably don't laugh much anymore...

I think just getting rid of my mind or something completely mind altering could *potentially* help me. Of course being brain dead isn't much of a solution either, perhaps, if it's not just seen as being akin to death anyways. I don't think everyone who is depressed is doomed, but those of us who accept leaving as our course of action or lack a support system, etc. etc. do end up doomed. Recovery isn't for everyone, but then death isn't for everyone either. Or untimely death, it does get us all sooner or later.

I don't think that's the case for everyone with depression. But certainly for some. As with any mental illness. It depends on the persistence of symptoms and the sufferer's individual ability to tolerate or cope with emotional pain. There are people who suffer far worse mentally than I do but strive to live a good life, yet I am here planning my death.

I'm not depressed, I'm numb. Used to be depressed, but now I don't feel anything but anger.

i think it depends on the severity. i kinda "recovered" from a very deep depression that i had a few years ago, but almost everyday i feel like i didn't recovered 100% and it seems that i became more prone to have some serious episodes of "depression". Actually, i would say that I'm still in depression but less intense as it was before.

i think that for someone to have a full recover is very difficult but not impossible.

I agree with @its-about-time

i wish you the best man 🙏🌠

Depressed since 7, every year it's been getting a little worse, now I am 25 and pretty much dead inside, it's never gotten better, without fail every year of my life I fall deeper into depression and despair and other issues by result, no matter that I have been trying to improve. Game was rigged from the start for some of us, life is fucked.

I'd say there's no real solution to depression for those who are screwed over by C677T mutations, which is possibly most of us here since it leads to lifelong, chemically-resistant primary dysthymia. I've been dead (briefly) twice, and as far as I know it didn't take. It's like an ethereal punishment locked inside a meat prison.

fact.

sure, there are times when you seem to get better and feel more in control of your environment but it's not long before you are hit by a bigger wave of pure despair.

There's no cure of depression. You can treat it but it will never be gone 100% and always can come back.

Yeah, there is no cure for it. That's what a lot of people get wrong and why they may feel negative connotations around the word "treatment" as opposed to it being cured. You can absolutely live happily and have a good life even with the worst depression, it's just a matter of figuring out what's doing it to you, and if you can, removing the problem.

I believe that being depressed can be perfectly rational in a world like this. It does not mean that someone is necessarily mentally ill, the problem is the life circumstances rather than the individual. To me, it makes sense to be depressed when you have a future filled with suffering ahead. Many people dismiss those who are suicidal as always being irrational, but in reality it can be perfectly rational wanting to die in a world as horrible as this. I know that it can be awful when everything is hopeless, it is a cruel world we live in where so much pain exists.

I'm on Wellbutrin for 6 weeks now. Seeing some improvement but. OT satisfied. I'm going to start going for a run daily and see if that helps.
