I used to garden alot when I was younger and I found it to be somewhat healing and therapeutic. I'm finally living at a place where I can garden again and I'm rather excited about it!

Does anyone here enjoy gardening in their free time? What do you like to grow? Do you have any tips or tricks that you've discovered?

I would love to grow weed, but I know my mom wouldn't let me and definitely not my grandma.

I have been working in my little yard. Last year I planted lots of Morning Glory seeds, They got out of control, I ended up stringing wires to the roof. They ended up making an arch over the front door.

I have the wires strung so far. I have moved many strawberry starts to the front as well. Planted pea seeds. Glad there is something to get me out of the cave now.

I have a cousin who grows weed, but he doesn't usually have a lot of it. He also has a vegetable and flower garden that he grows as well and even though he is renting the place, his landlord is totally fine with it! I'm hoping that sometime soon I can rent from this guy because then there is a chance that I might be able to grow a small weed plant out there for myself. That would be cool.

Hopefully soon you get to live somewhere that you can grow weed. That would be awesome!

Wheres @Underscore at?...Glad your getting into new things or exploring your youth,Brick..I fucking hate thought of gardening.I think I was too obsessive with it while trying to hold down the fort, and it just stressed me out to much. But it is an activity and something to take pride in.

I think the only thing Im interested in growing right now is 'shrooms.

Yeah, hopefully cause it helps me. My mom doesn't even like me taking weed and wants to drug test me

Perhaps the solution is to grow weed so you can smoke it while you are preparing the rest of the garden. Take a few puffs to prevent rage and then you could grow the best garden ever!

I'll have to put that idea to my girlfriend. It's her house and it feels like I'm doing her chores but she doesn't see it that way. I can't wait to go home and smoke weed. She hates it, particularly the fact the neighbour does it

I have a lot of houseplants, probably more than 30 in a small apartment. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to care for them. The routine of watering and inspecting them, propagating them, cutting them back, repotting them etc, is very meditative.

I water them in the bathtub and give them a shower sometimes lol. They get more affe tion than the average housewife.

Ah, I see the problem. You are doing everything for her while she does nothing. No wonder you can't wait to get home and smoke! I think if it was your land and your garden where you were growing whatever you wanted, you would feel less irritated by doing the work since it wouldn't feel like you are being forced or coerced into doing it. When you are in control of your life and doing things for yourself, that is what makes all the difference.

Here!
I love gardening. Very theraputic for me. My old home had huge gardens and was a full time job, but one I enjoyed. I would scavenge for plants in the local wood and drive around town looking for discarded masonry to swipe and build stuff with. Made a nice terrace out of discarded flags.
Now my yard is tiny though quite nice. I've scavved plant pots, masonry, bricks and lots of plants local to the area. Okay, weeds, but pretty ones with nice names.
That's what I'm currently doing, mooching around the back of the house collecting samples to grow in the yard/garden.
I just wish I could have a pond.

Thank You! :smiling: There were also peas & tomato plants in those pots. Couple years ago I grew a pot plant, It was almost as tall as me. What I didn't know how badly it would smell in the little box I live in. :haha: It was quite a job drying, and putting it in multiple jars. Wish I had still had one of those photos.

Grow some ribeye steaks or some fillet mignons wrapped in bacon. :blarg:

I would be interested in cultivating a small patch of peppers though, now that you got me thinking..Its a good hobby/distraction.

All I have left right now is an apricot tree and a huge grape vine that is growing into the neighbors yards...And a field of dogshit and weeds.

Thanks man! I've considered starting a small shroom setup myself. It's legal to order the spores but I'd still like to put a few precautions in place before I do so.

Today I made the world's smallest rockery for the succulent I found growing in the back lane. Need to take a pic.

We've got plenty of room at my place and my roommate studied permaculture. We've started preparing some of the areas and beds but it's going to take some time to get everything going.

I think this year we'll probably keep it rather simple. Next year we'll start expanding out further. This is a picture of my backyard that I took the other day. You can see the house middle right.

I'll try to update this thread as we move along.

I really want to except my agoraphobia extends to my backyard lol I did maintain a hanging basket on the deck for one summer tho. And had a poinsettia inside for over a year. Currently trying to keep a little peace lily alive.

I really want to get more into gardening. For the first time, I'll be able to spend the weekends in a place I call my own (even if its rented)! I don't feel comfortable doing so if I stay at my dad's house, but to get to my summer internship, its best I stay with him during the week. I figure if I build and start a small garden when I can be home, even if it's only cooking herbs or something, it'll be really therapeutic! I have a couple house plants right now, and it's been nice taking care of those during quarantine.

Permaculture sounds interesting. Don't really have the money to go to school for it now, but I'd love to find some way to self-teach or learn non-formally.

How did your roommate study permaculture?
