• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Does anyone else worry about the funeral costs for your family? Should I start collecting money then just include it with my final notes?

Yes, I plan having money set aside... a few $k.....from a bank account that already is shared with some family members.
If not, I'd suggest maybe set up an account, put more than enough funds into it and then leave the account info for them to get access to it.
I suppose also cash can be left behind in some final notes. Or a cashiers or bank check.

Funerals are so damn expensive for no good reason. I wish that the funeral industry didn't take advantage of grieving loved ones to mark up prices. :(

Yes, here in my country it is quite common for families to have funeral payment plans that are paid monthly, so that if someone dies it becomes easier. Even so, I want to leave some savings so that they can pay off some debts for a long time, this will make the context of my death lighter and make it easier for them to forget me more quickly.

Dont't you have some kind of insurance for funerals in your country? I pay for life insurance and it also cover the funeral costs, but there's also plans where you pay a fee monthly directly to the "funeral home" (i dont know if this is the right word), and it cover the costs when you die.

About saving money on a bank account, you should give a look for the laws in your country, using my country has a example (Brasil), when someone dies, a lawyer must gather information about every asset (and this includes money in the bank) the person left, to determine how the inheritance will be distributed. So the money won't be readily available to pay the funeral.

I'm opting for cremation. Still expensive but cheaper than a funeral

I've already saved up enough money to cover my funeral, I don't want to burden them even further.

I've been thinking of prepaying for my cremation cost. Ita definitely overpriced where I live. But it would be one less headache for my family. Although they could grind me uo and throw me into the ocean or a a junkyard and I would still careless.

Yeah, it's quite pricey. It doesn't help that my family is fairly religious so that just tacks on extra to the cost. I have a few thousand set aside for them once I pass.
