  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I don't know why I keep contacting them. I guess I always hope they'll help me but they're the same spiel every time. "What's wrong today?" "That must be hard for you." And then they just direct me to do one of my hobbies to cope...I've already been doing them. I've already drawn my drawings for hours today I still want to die... I always hope they'll have some solution but I usually feel worse after calling them because I feel like I've exhausted all my options. I've tried several different ones. What do y'all think...

Ironically, I end up getting so irritated at their automated responses that I don't even feel like killing myself anymore.
Just angry and hopeless.

Suicide hotlines are useless, they can't even speak about method, where's free speech? Where's the right to die? So they care only to take away our rights to speak up and our right to die, fu*king helpful

Many years ago I called Samaritans (UK) when I was stood next to a railway line thinking about suicide. A man patronisingly answered and asked "What's the matter then?", in the tone you might ask a 5 year old, and through tears I quickly but politely ended the call. When people suggest Samaritans to me now I think of that moment. A friend of mine struggled with anxiety during her degree and found them very helpful, she called them a lot. But to my knowledge it wasn't suicidal thoughts she was dealing with.

I think that suicide hotlines sound useless personally. They don't take away the reasons as to why someone is suicidal in the first place or fix any problems. It does frustrate me how suicide is viewed by society as something that is always irrational and must be prevented. I wish that we lived in a world where our right to die is respected and then we could just exit peacefully. There really is nothing wrong with wanting to die. Some people simply don't want to suffer for the sake of it until old age.

Suicide holiness are harmful. Stay away from them if you don't want to feel even more alienated.

What do you really want them to tell you?
It's hard to accept but they can help us with what they know. They can refer you to doctors to treat the problem and give you advice at that time of crisis. You can't offer yourself much. They have saved many lives but other times they just don't know how to address the issue.

Your interest is very sweet, thank you :) Unfortunately I do have my art posted on tumblr and stuff and it could be easily image searched...I'd really like to keep my activity on this site separate from my other internet presence

I agree completely. Looking at this post again, I should have clarified that I don't think suicide hotlines are useless or evil (like many in this thread). I know they might be really helpful for some, and I know most workers there do it because they want to help people and do the best they can. Just venting about my personal experience

I think what they mean is actually "parasuicide hotline", which success is so short, a failed suicide attempt.
