Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I know everyone has their own lives. Work, family, stress, mental health... I genuinely get it.

But if you're posting on the friend megathread saying you're lonely and that you want friends, please, actually give someone a chance.

Friendship doesn't happen in three messages.

It doesn't grow if every conversation ends with someone disappearing without a word.

I've spent so much time messaging people from the friend megathread who say they're looking for genuine, long-term friends. We talk for a little while, I start thinking, "Maybe this could be the beginning of something," and then they're just... gone.

It's heartbreaking how often hope turns into silence.

I'm not asking anyone to reply every minute of every day. I'm not asking to become best friends overnight. I'm just asking for a little effort. A conversation that lasts longer than a few messages. A chance to get to know each other before deciding I'm not worth keeping around.

If you're genuinely interested in building a real friendship, where we both make an effort, get to know each other, and don't disappear after a handful of messages, I'd really love to hear from you. Feel free to message me.

I'm just tired of feeling like every new conversation is another goodbye waiting to happen.

I know what you mean. I experienced this with IRL friends multiple times. I have to admit i am not very active when it comes to friendships myself but i always reply to people but with timezones and stuff i have to do it can take me some time to reply.

I imagine a lot of people on here have social anxiety and may not be the best at keep a friendship. I know when I am at a low point I act like a wounded animal and hold up in my little corner of the world until I feel better. (It actually cost me a relationship with a wonderful person) Doesn't make it right but makes it understandable.

Very true, I think that's the problem with online friendships or at least friendships, which start online. It's just too easy to block/ ignore someone for whatever reason. Sometimes it's justified for sure, but often times it's not and it's just an avoidance strategy, because it's easier than to actually tell the other person what's happening. So yeah, it sucks, happened to me a couple of times already, even with people, who I've been talking to four years, it's painful. That's the reason, why I basically stopped trying, I just don't want to meet someone and then say goodbye or just have them leave way too soon. Though I know, I prob shouldn't stop trying. I hope you find someone, who values you and doesn't just disappear

This is really tough, Man. I'm sorry to hear it. It's so hard to develop meaningful relationships with anyone when you're an adult, everything is different and if you don't already have a set group of friends you're all alone. Hoping you find really good friends soon xx

I really hate people who ghost without a word. At least tell me you don't want to talk; don't keep me waiting. I really hope you find people who value you
