Wow 10 years is a long time. I've been taking them for 2 years for my OCD but I'm tapering off right now. Hoping to get off them by the next month.

7-ish years, I believe. Although, not the same one this whole time. I've tried many combos.

I'm currently unmedicated, although I'm supposed to be taking a cocktail.

5 years. Sertraline for 2 years and then Prozac for 3 years, but I completely stopped all meds about 3 months ago.

I took sertraline and a few others from the early 2000s til two years ago. I wasn't really good at taking them consistently and the side effects (feeling like a zombie, foggy thoughts, weight gain) were less preferable than the mental illness.

Two years later I'm finally starting to lose some weight, even if it is very slow.

You took it for depression?

My diagnosis went from depression (adolescent) to bipolar II (adult), though there may be some bpd in there. And definitely lots of cptsd.

Tried a couple for depression but had to switch bc of bad side effects, been on sertraline for the past two years. It's not a cure all for me but it's better than without

Effexor for 18 years. I've been off it twice for less than a month and it was a disaster both times. I'll probably take it for as long as I live.

Some 11-12 years by now, on Escitalopram. I've had higher and lower dose, but no matter what, I cannot seem to be able to get off them - whether it be the physical or the mental side effects being horrendous :( but maybe one day, I still keep hoping! Getting off them last time really sent my suicidality through the roof, so I guess they are keeping me alive, even if they are not making me feel fine. Strange little pills.

I have been on Citalopram for over 8 years, and I first tried Zoloft and boy oh boy THAT did not work, but the Citalopram seems to be ok.

I've been off and on them since 1992 or 1993. Many brands/dosages over the years.

I don't think that I've ever made it all the way through a withdrawal without heading back to a doc in despair and physical discomfort.

I have now accepted that I will take them, in some form or another, until the day I die.

It's just easier for me.
