The fireworks around me are scaring me and my dog and making me physically sick. Can I get some random thoughts, stories, facts, jokes or anything in this thread to distract me?

I don't get anxiety with fireworks but have been around dogs that did... so I empathize. I always felt sorriest for dogs because they are scared and don't have any idea what is going on. At least people do. Meanwhile, the fireworks were happening here even in a thunderstorm. People are crazy. Fire is a very old invention.

Also... it's curious to me how we here in the USA love to vilify the Chinese, and we conveniently forget that gunpowder was invented in China... and most of the fireworks people explode on "Independence Day" are either made in China or made in Mexico... two countries we love to put down.

We suck.

Why not wear ear plugs or ear defenders?

I remember when I was a kid I had this German Spitz.she would get so scared when there were fireworks.every time one went off she would come running in and get under the sofa.i would hold her and she would shake uncontrollably . extremely unsettled and couldn't be placated.they suffer a lot during festivities ,pets.

We just had to wait for it all to die down, that's the only way she'd calm down.

Sorry you and your pup is going through the same.it's a stressful time.

What breed is your dog?
