Ok, here's your shower thought of the day (yes it occurred to me in the shower): Why not confess in a church before cbt?

Sure it's nice to talk to people over the internet but it also could be nice to talk to someone IRL and unlike a therapist a priest is basically the only one that can't tell anyone. I'm not really religious but it kinda feels nice to imagine someone knowing beforehand. It could give a nice sense of community and belonging for the end especially since you would be buried within this context as well.

I am obviously not against suicide but to me it feels like 'failing' and talking to someone about it might increase the chances of success.

It's just something I thought about and I know I am never going to do it because I don't have the balls to.

Is anyone here religious? Do you go or have ever gone to confession and has it helped you?

It's worth a try dude. I'm not religious, but opening up to professionals has at times helped me.

It may also give you more peace of mind before you do it. If the Christian God exists, you would be at ease that you resorted to God's holy sanctuary before you died.

I'm also in the shower, reading ss on a waterproof smartphone. I think that a priest would have a moral, legal and religious obligation to report your desire to ctb to the police. Just my thoughts.

Priests aren't allowed to tell anyone else what you say in confession. You could tell them you committed a crime, and if they told the police, they'd probably lose their position as a priest.
But still, it seems a bit risky. Confession is mostly for after you've done something the church sees as wrong, so telling them you plan to do something is a bit of a gray area on whether they'll try to stop you or not.

My friend did this once, it took some emotional baggage off her chest
I would definitely do this too, just need a few more months to work up the nerve.
Faith in God has helped me get better. Most suicidal people are probably so done with life they dont see how praying would help their situation. But I take comfort in hoping that someone who loves me no matter what and will give me happiness in the afterlife makes it easier to go on.
