My mother called them because I wasn't answering the phone to her or other relatives and I was intercepted at the station carrying a tent. May get sectioned.

They asked why I had a tent and I said I was going camping.

I can't do that... can't lie to that extent. If I tried to claim I was looking forward to something it would sound unbelievably fake. No episodes of depression would contradict what they already know. I don't drink or do drugs though.

It's because my friend had told my mother I was suicidal prior to the police coming over yesterday and then when I wasn't answering the phone to her she freaked and called them again.

I guess if the cops are called on you, there's some value in letting the anxiety die down with people around you before attempting. And of course lying to the police if you're questioned. I've been sectioned before and as a general rule you have to deny any ideation (any at all ever) or else you will get locked up.

Cops here in the states are usually a bit more lazy in the bigger cities and are less likely to check on previous records on welfare checks. Perhaps it's different in your city.

It's 72 hours section 136 but if you get sectioned again it will be section 2 which you can be detained up to 28 days.

In the US, if a mental health professional or doctor or hotline calls the cops on you, yes they can detain you against your will. If it's from a regular person it's a grey area, but typically the cops do a welfare check on you. If you act calm they may leave you alone in that case.

Also you haven't been on speaking terms with your Mum for a while right? That would be a valid explanation as to why you didn't answer the phone when she rang if they press you about it.

Not sure what to say about the other relatives though.

Otherwise you'll just have to pretend to cooperate and stay calm.

I already got released, but: grammar wasn't clear.

I meant, "the police turned up, so I'm now in a police car".

Also, the fact I wasn't answering my phone to my grandfather (only other relative who tried to my knowledge and that was less than 12 hours before the police ambush) could be explained by a) I wanted to be alone and haven't been or wanted to be in contact with any relatives for months now b) I never talk on the phone routinely with any relatives besides my mother on occasion in the past; they also never call me and c) given I had discovered that my mother have been informed of my suicidalness the day before and I'd had her calls blocked for a few weeks, when I saw a call from my grandfather who never, ever calls me I assumed without question it was my mother either using his phone or putting him up to it.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter since I'm out for now and probably won't go in again unless I fail the charcoal method and get resuscitated (although I'm planning to write and sign a DNR in the hope they won't)

hey zannex this was caused from trusting people a bit too much,sometimes you spend too much time with certain individuals that have the same opinion as you(for example this site) that you forget that society is extremely anti-suicide.In the real world not just being suicidal but many things in general are best kept between yourself and only yourself because you never know when it might be used against you or what people might think,You've already made it hard for you to commit suicide and situations like this may become more common now after telling your 'friend' about it and your family finding out.The only thing you can do now is not repeat the same mistake again.
