I received more insight into my mitochondrial disease muscle biopsy results, and it's not a question- I will continue to experience a trajectory of further debilitating decline in both cognitive and physical function, which means continued loss of autonomy, little to no quality of life and undignified circumstances. I would like the option for a humane peaceful choice asap, while I still have the little autonomy that I do.
I finally have an irl connection for fent and other opioids, but this is new territory for me.
I've read over the opioids megathread many times, but I'm hoping someone on here with experience and knowledge might be open to reaching out to me for additional discussion. If you know someone who might be able to help, please pass this along to them.
I would greatly appreciate it.
Some info about my dx and test results for validity if helpful. I am classified as having severe mitochondrial dysfunction with a grim prognosis.
*Complex I deficiency is usually a progressive neuro-degenerative disorder and is responsible for a variety of clinical symptoms, particularly in organs and tissues that require high energy levels, such as brain, heart, liver, and skeletal muscles.
This pattern shows:
* Multisystem ETC impairment (Complex I, II, III, and IV — all involved)
* Both NADH- and FADH2-driven pathways are affected (I and II), meaning both carbohydrate and fat metabolism are impaired
* Final step (Complex IV) is impaired, which can cause a full bottleneck in oxygen use
* Citrate synthase is low, meaning you may have reduced mitochondrial mass or biogenesis
This is not a single-point defect — it's global mitochondrial failure.
* Now at severe stage: multi-system involvement, profound energy failure
