Do you have a good quote about ctb or just generally wanting to die?

Here's one of mine (it's not a great translation, but it'll have to do):

Dear death, there is in your essence
something which comforts mildly,
what you ask for if one has grown up
or wasted all of life!

Dear death, there is in your essence
something which purifies clearly:
that which is not with good or evil
you lay bare and naked.

Follow me and let me hold your hand,
it is deeply comforting.
You make what is beautiful bearing and large,
you make the ugly small.

I don't think it's exactly a suicide quote, but my text below my avatar translates to:

"It's better to die than to suffer this."

Not my own but I think of this one often:

"Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace."

There is but one truly serious philosophical problem and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to answering the fundamental question of philosophy. All the rest — whether or not the world has three dimensions, whether the mind has nine or twelve categories — comes afterwards. These are games; one must first answer.

"One of the first signs of the beginning of understanding is the wish to die. This life appears unbearable, another unattainable. One is no longer ashamed of wanting to die; one asks to be moved from the old cell, which one hates, to a new one, which one willl only in time come to hate. In this there is also a residue of belief that during the move the master will chance to come along the corridor, look at the prisoner and say: "This man is not to be locked up again, He is to come with me."

Sounds like the option to ctb any time he wants is calming enough for him to continue on living. Without the ability to think about ctb there'd be nothing to keep him calm enough not to ctb.

Not exactly a suicide quote, but a pessimist quote:

"I wept as soon as I was born, and every day explains why."

It's apparently a Spanish proverb. I recommend the YT channel 'Pessimism Channel', that's where I learned that quote, and many other good ones.

Maybe not about suicide, probably more antinatalism:

"Not to be born is, beyond all estimation, best; but when a man has seen the light of day, this is next best by far, that with utmost speed he should go back from where he came."

- Sophocles (I believe)

I can confirm that, your ancestors delicately performed Lingchi, a very convenient public show.

Greetings,
Whereas this is not a quote but a poem, it is one in that it is Fujimoras death quote. This translation is a bit more wordy than the original but I do appreciate good narrative description.

Delicate line between heaven and earth...
The calm of the ages,
all the world's worth.
Such minuscule measure,
while we think it so grand...

Just five specks of smallness,
This soft quiet land.
So frail and so fleeting,
in the end you will see
Simple dreams were Horatio's philosophy.

For all the truth,
all creation,
all secrets of yore
Can be told in an instant,
by then they're no more.

Ah, The Unexplainable
All worries unsettled,
heartache unresolved...
All questions unanswered,
with death, shall be solved.

We already teeter,
this sheer cliff so high.
When we fall to corruption,
insecurities die.

To end is to start;
to surrender is to know.

Despair and depression,
together they grow.
Hope shall meet hopeless
when there's nowhere to go.

Your name does not belong on this list.
But you need to be here if I'm going to tell my story.
If I'm going to explain why I did what I did.
Because you aren't every other guy.
You're different.
You're good and kind, and decent.
And I didn't deserve to be with someone like you.

"Near where I live there's a viaduct
Where people jump when they're out of luck
Raining down on the cars and trucks below

They put a net there to catch their fall
Like that'll stop anyone at all
What they don't know is when nature calls, you go."

"One of the first signs of the beginnings of understanding is the wish to die."

Kafka just speaks to me on a level I didn't know was possible. I see so much of myself in his writings, it's like I've written them myself. I feel him in my core. Everything he wrote speaks to my soul and it's harrowing to think that there was once a person who understood me on this level, and he died 76 long years before me. Sometimes I cry over him, I grieve him like I knew him. And in some ways, I did. And he knew me, too.

Also, not a quote but I'd like to add some lyrics from a song that doesn't portray suicide as the most awful thing someone could do. He acknowledges that there may be valid reasons why someone would choose to end their life. It's one of my favourite songs.

"You know some people'd rather not exist
They put a gun to the heart or a knife to the wrist
We oughta think they aren't smart
It could be something I missed"
