I recently moved out and have cooking on my own and really been enjoying it! I have a big interest in cooking, and im not a pro yet I have been getting a lot of practice in. Mostly just making pastas, I grilled a steak once but that was with my dad(and I dont love grilled steak).
Tonight I made fettuccine Alfredo and it was incredible! I have a lot of leftovers as well. To anyone who is trying to eat on a budget, COOK PASTA!! The ingredients I used for my fettuccine alfredo was
-1 stick of butter
-2 cups of heavy cream(in between 1 and a half and 2, just eyeball it)
-2 handfuls of shredded Parmesan
-light amount of Garlic powder(didnt have any real garlic)
cook that on medium for anywhere from 2-5 minutes and whisk it around regularly, honestly just eyeball it and taste it with the whisk until it feels right. Cooking is not an exact science and as long as you are within a good range you should be good.
for the pasta its of course just fettuccine.
Once you put them together I recommend seasoning with salt, pepper, and thyme.
Another recpie I like that you can't find online is something I labeled "Cheesy Noodles" when I was 5. My mom calls it a tuna casserole but it is not a tuna casserole
ingredients:
-1 can of cream of mushroom soup
-1 can of canned albacore white tuna
-1 box of large sea shell pasta
-Handful of shredded american cheese
-Salt, pepper, dried dill
boil the large sea shells until ready(instructions on box), then drain the water from the pot. Once the pasta is sitting alone in the pot put the cream of mushroom soup and canned tuna in. mix the ingredients around until it feels right, then sprinkle the cheese until it covers the pasta, you can stir the cheese in with it but i like to just have it on top, sometimes i mix it in then put another layer on the top
once mixed, cook at 375 for 20-25 minutes.
Season with the salt, pepper, and dried dill and you have my childhood favorite recipe!! My mom would make it on any special occasion for me, I cook it all the time and pretty much live off of it. It's easy and cheap, although a pain in the ass to clean up cause the cheese sticks to the pot. you have to use a decently sized pot for this, just enough to hold the noodles.
Cooking with the amount of ingredients I list will serve 4-6 people, or lasts about 4ish meals for leftovers. they reheat really well in the microwave so it doesn't get gross eating it for a few days.
Share any recipes you guys make, if I end up making them I'll let you know if I like it!
